No bank is making a loan for 127K to 180K for a cyber truck on the secondary market. The actual MSRP for the cyberbeast is 79K. Tesla is tacking on an extra $20K for “foundation series”. Dealers are tacking on the rest. You buy a cybertruck for $180K, you’re not looking to flip it, you’re simply adding it to your collection. Sure, prices will eventually fall, but while supplies are constrained, people who must have it, will pay a premium.
From what I have heard (I know a few people who are close to him), managing money is not his strong suit. Multiple people are trying to help him make smart decisions, but from what I have seen and heard, it is not going too well and he is banking on a big payday coming. Hoping it all works out.
He’s got to be living in a very strange environment. Teammates (peers) with mega millionaire/A-Iist celebrities and guys making NFL minimum. He’s got a couple hundred thousand in the bank maybe and rubbing elbows with guys who couldn’t even round to the nearest $10 million on their net worth without guessing.
Yes, plus he grew up very poor and and wants to take care of his family. Its tough.
People are already flipping them. And banks will loan people the money long as the down-payment is big enough to make it a low risk for the bank. Only reason to NOT loan people money to buy the truck is a high risk of much greater than typical depreciation.
This all just argues even more for why buying one is a mistake, unless one is a collector and it’ll sit in a warehouse or car-barn for its whole life. And why would anybody want to add a non-exclusive car to their collection? I suppose it might become exclusive by accident if Tesla can’t sell enough and halts production.
True. The most banks will lend on these trucks is $100K. The balance will have to be made up by the buyer.
No one buys a cybertruck for its utility. It’s a toy to add to the collection.
I’ve seen a lot of them wrapped and used as advertisements for different businesses. It’s definitely eye catching in that regard.
Do you really think IP Paid full price??
Might have got it for a deep discount because he agreed to allow the dealership show him buying one.
Unless IP's a close friend of someone at that dealership, he's not going to lend his name to it for free in an advertisement (and that's what that video was, even if it was just on the internet) and pay full price for that Cyber Truck

There are few things in this world worse than a football game in Yankee stadium in winter, but the CT is one of those things. If I had to choose between going to the pinstripe bowl or being seen in a CT, I’d jump off a tall building.
If you pay 180k that means you bought it from a flipper.
Tesla doesn't have dealers. The guy Isaiah bought this from is probably an exotic car dealer that has them on order from Tesla and is reselling them. I'm sure he has a stock of Italian cars and other imports he sells to collectors or people who want them and trade up for the next new thing every few years.
The thing with the CyberTruck is it may become a novelty collectible but it will always be a piece of trash with Tesla's rip off quality control and notorious issues. Everything the company makes is never what they claim it is and every one I've met that drives one has regrets because the quality and materials are complete garbage.
Congrats to Pacheco though, he deserves to be paid much more and should buy whatever he wants. He's earned it. When it's time for his contract to be negotiated he needs to get paid big time.

Given that there are no Tesla dealers to add an ADM over MSRP, to pay any amount at all over MSRP would mean buying from a broker who is marking things up which is, in effect, flipping the vehicle for a profit. My understanding was that Tesla was aggressively going after anybody who flips the CT. So not sure how a broker can get away with doing that unless they purchased several at once and don't mind Tesla cutting them off.

J&S is a pretty standard used car dealer, though it does look like they have 4-5 cyber trucks available along with the usual assortment of used cars.
Speculative. Your key phrase is might have, because you don’t actually know. Yes, he could have gotten something off. He also might have gotten nothing off.
This was a social media post, not a traditional advertisement. Unless you know facts of what he got off, this kind of conjecture is a waste of time.

He is, by all accounts so far at least, a good kid. With truly horrific taste in automobiles.
A Ducati or other motorcycle is probably prohibited in his team contract, and for good reason. But what's the problem with a McLaren?

It is very vast. But without looking it up, I suspect the CT is probably not quicker in a straight line or on track than a Ducati. And probably not quicker on track than any modern McClaren. Weight always mattering, and all.But it’s faster than both
Still, the CT, despite the lame fake 911 towing ad, is really good towing. Might be the one valid reason to get one.
I gotta say, even though Tesla chose the slowest possible 911 to race, it still came pretty close to beating that slow 911 while towing another one which is pretty impressive, IMO. If only it wasn't the ugliest car ever conceived.

Yes, young people do tend to have bad judgement w/driving and also lack the experience and long-developed instincts (subconscious pattern recognition) for danger that older drivers do. OTOH, most high-end sports cars are built to protect the occupants in very high speed crashes in ways the "tanks" out there are not. The sports cars can be vastly safter, in many instances, than a typical road car due to the racing technology expensively baked into the car. Also the sports car can much more nimbly avoid an accident given its superior suspension, brakes and overall handling.
So there's a trade-off in putting a kid into a big heavy Suburban versus a McClaren/Lambo. Most kids tend to drive too fast in too many situations where they shouldn't. Crashing in a Suburban looks safer and mighty be at certain speeds. But over certain speeds, the McClaren will protect the occupants better. OTOH, the McClaren will lure the driver to speed.
Having said all that, putting a 20-something into a 7000 pound vehicle with sub-3s 0-60 time seems dangerous for the driver, the passengers, and everybody around them on the road. The vehicle is a tank with sports car speed but tank-like reflexes due to its immense weight.
Could be a waste of time speculating, but social media now is a good way to advertise and I can't see IP or any pro athlete not benefiting from a business using them in a social media message .
I just say it's not out of the realm of possibility that a business offered IP a discount if he'd agree be in a social media message showing him buying their product .
