Paul was as RU as you can possibly get. He got so much flack on this board and social media and it probably got to be too much. And with all the haters on here / Twitter/ Instagram, it makes it seem like the fan base is against him when it’s the same 10 or so knuckleheads who are the loudest.

Hopefully as a fan base we learn to not be aholes to our own guys, but I would not bet on that. Keep it up and Pike leaves too. This is why we can’t have nice things.

It's our fault Paul left zero time for pikiell to cope with his loss by transferring this late? I didn't realize I controlled this kids actions to not screw over a man and team he supposedly had respect for

I think you are fully wrong here

Every fan base has posters that will vent after any painful loss and blame individual players
You can transfer and the same will happen

Every fan base has fans that bash their own players especially at the bigtime level. Embarrassing look for Paul that he's so mentally weak he let Indiana and Rutgers fans both get to him so much. Not the jersey tough kid he wants his rep to be. He's actually always been mentally weak sadly letting refs get to him as well

I actually agree with you that every fan base has these elements. We can choose to be better though and that could lead to better outcomes for us.

This is high level college basketball, not the Boy Scouts. The players will survive if they are criticized for their performance at times.

It's frankly embarassing for a grown man to be so concerned for the feelings of 18-22 year old adults, now being paid to play a game.

Says the grown man posting about it on a message board. Guess you think Pike is embarrassing since he’s concerned about their feelings.

Paul is an interesting player. There is a lot to like. Jersey kid who is a nice guy and extremely competitive. Chose Rutgers when he had other "better" options. He has size and vision and is an excellent passer. Gave Cliff plenty of dunks. Nice footwork in the post. Underrated spot up 3 point shooter. If he put it together like the stretch starting NW the season before last, he would be a true weapon

He has a lot not to like as well. He over dribbles with his back to the basket and slows down the offense. He over helps on defense and gets caught along with not having the best foot speed for one on one perimeter defense. He's too reluctant to shoot which hurts the offense. Paul also has had issues on the court controlling his emotions with the refs and some questionable and blatantly dirty plays like the TJD embarrassment where he lost his cool

I was kind of torn after the season if it might be best that Paul moved on. I didnt really have a strong opinion either way. Could have been good for both parties if we replaced him with more athleticism and speed and went a different direction at PG... part of me thought if he does put it all together and is fully healthy, he could have a strong bounce back season...

But this late in the year Paul leaving screws us bigtime no matter whether you loved Paul or wanted him gone, especially with Cam leaving late too

As stated by a couple other posters in this thread, every fanbase is going to be critical of players when they don’t perform.

I would venture to say Paul’s play was so bad down the stretch that even sister Jean would have turned on him. He was that bad.

It’s a crock of sh*t. He’s simply making someone else the bad guy so he can still look like the golden child.

Call me Mr. Goody two shoes! I really feel that the mean spirited posters on this board influenced Paul's decision to leave.

If he plays poorly elsewhere and it leads to loses, he will hear about it just as bad or worse.
If his play leads to wins, he will receive endless accolades, exactly as he did here.

You can argue the offense we ran and rotations we used placed him in no win positions at times, that includes the design of some of our in bounds plays that offered very few options.

All my opinions

Let’s just assume it did. If that’s the case, he’s not really cut out for semi-pro (basically what the NCAA is now) or pro ball- his ultimate goal.

The reality is, what matters to most athletes is what their teammates and coaches think of them and that they support them. If he’s that profoundly affected by what a minority of the fanbase was saying, I worry that basketball on this level or higher isn’t good for him.

Curious if you’ve taken even a minute to read the boards of other teams.
All in I would consider us tame!

This crybaby stuff is nauseating. You are either with us or against us. PM chose the latter. Therefore, to him I say, "Don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out."
Or ‘don’t flop on the way out’

BS clown original Poster.
If it’s anybody’s fault it’s Coach Pike for having no Offensive game planning at all.
