It doesn't take a lot to make us happy

All it takes is for the team to try hard for the entire game and we are happy as a kid on Christmas morning. Thanks to our effort the second half, even though we were never within one score and never really threatened to win, the board has now switched from "Fire Dan now!!!!!" to "Damn, we're going to be scary good next year." I'm glad our team finally figured out this playing hard for 60 minutes thing, but let's don't go overboard with it. We still got torched thanks to some elementary mistakes by the secondary and our special teams was a joke, as it normally is. Today was an improvement, no doubt, but let's see where we go the next three weeks before we start singing Mullen's praises.

Actually, I really don't think a single person has switched their opinion on this. The more positive people are just not being completely shouted down.

It is crazy. the same people who will say we should not expect to be too good be

too good because of our history, will ensure that we are mediocre by lauding coaches that win 6. Then to compound the problem, they'll inist we schedule 4 sure wins to make sure the coach is never run off.

I call it the Stupidity Cycle. Welcome to it.

I totally agree. Some MSU fans consider success to be losing by a closer margin than was expected and finishing 12th in the conference instead of 14th.

I call it perspective going back to the 70's and knowing that our resources are limited compared to everyone else in the conference. We're going to seat 60k or next year and still have one of the smallest stadiums. Pay a coach 2.6m and he's at the bottom of the pay scale in the conference we play in. We hire sunbelt assistants and wonder why we struggle to coach up when we see the other teams who pay SEC salaries for their assistants "improve" when we supposedly Dont. And to boot after the most successful run in school football history we have "fans" wanting to can the coach who's been here during that time before the seasons outcome is known. Love to say our most successful run results in playing for NC's but hey, just thinking we spend with the big boys doesn't mean we are there. Yet. The complaining sounds more like an entitlement mindset than a buckle down and grind it out as we build our financial base to be competitive.

I do take solace in knowing that some of our most strident Internet gurus are just a break or two away from founding the next Netscape or Nike and will then be able to give us the $ to finally be middle of the pack in athletic spending in the SEC.

The new Moral Victory U** This has come full circle from the same team that was making fun of Ole Miss about doing this last year...

We're "happy" because we saw 60 minutes worth of effort?(I admit -- I felt it too a bit) Think about that for a minute -- while reasoning to yourself that we don't deserve better than we've been getting.

Happy to have effort.
Happy to not get blown out.
Where is this culture change that Mullen allegedly was bringing with him to Starkville? This "winner's mentality" if you will...

This board has been awarding ole miss moral victories for the past two years. People have been praising freeze for almost beating a&m, almost beating bama, almost beating lsu, almost beating a&m again. He did beat lsu this year and deserves credit for it, but he was being praised well before that by people on here.

Did I see something that I could feel good about? Yes. Did I see 60 minutes of effort? No.

Most people are giddy about the performance when the game was already in hand. Think about this: A&M took the victory formation when they knew that they couldn't run out the clock.

'Better' effort is the most we can take from it. Too many break downs to win games like these. So not happy, still goes in the loss column. And if we manage to get to 6-6 somehow, I will feel better about the season. But not happy because Mullen has proven he doesn't know how to manage a game on a consistent basis. Hard to see that improving too.

Took 9 games for this team to play 4 quarters and suddenly Mullen is candidate for coach of the decade on this board. Koolaid flowing freely.
