You are correct and accurate with that statement. All of these games are being played. A little adversity and shut it down.
100% could have been some great memories ruined by adults because of pussificatoon

As I was harping about last night, if you want to play baseball the season starts in 18 weeks then you can “go(stay) home and be safe!” To quote the great George Carlin. What an unfortunate end to many of these young men’s careers playing the sport they love!

Important note - every Catholic school has testing day next Saturday. I imagine that’s a big reason the games can’t wait to next weekend.

I'm not positive but I feel like it’s a rule that IHSA games can’t be played on sundays.

All schools have different events. One school's event should dictate the schedule. To everyone's point, a contingency plan should have been in place much earlier.

If attendance and student engagement is the top choice, then they should play on Saturday.

The only reason a contingent plan should have kicked in was for a hurricane, tornado, or hell and brimstone! Football is played in all weather period, and typically only paused for “short” periods not rescheduled for 2-4” of snow. Seems all other football in the Midwest is being played today…go figure! Should have realized when they started a state title for flag football in Illinois the wheels were already off the bus!

What? The game got postponed by 3 days.

And, I'd be willing to bet the teams that get to play a Tuesday championship game in Dec would be pretty memorable.

Smh. I mean if you are going to complain can you atleast direct your frustration at the right people. This was an ISU decision. These games would likely be played if the venue was on a campus that didn't close.

5a at 3pm on a Tuesday!? 6a at 6pm on Tuesday!? This is infinitely more idiotic decision than cancelling the Saturday games because of snow. This is a deplorable fail by the IHSA. It will force parents and family to take a day off of which may not be possible for some. Most parents don't have the luxury of taking a random day off of work. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of the players and to force parents and family members into this predicament is absolutely despicable. If this is the final decision then the directors must resign and pay back their salary. Such an egregious and thoughtless decision. Awful awful awful fail, period end of story, no human is smart enough to convince me otherwise, I am 100% correct, mic drop!
3 of the 4 schools participating are private schools. If they can pay the 15k tuition, they can probably use a personal day at work.

So girls shouldn't have flag football as an IHSA sport?

Call me a traditionalist, should boys have a softball state title?
Well no because we have this sport called baseball which is the near equivalent. Almost like flag football and tackle football. Just out of curiousity do you feel the same way about Girls Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Girls Soccer, Girls Swimming, Girls Golf and Girls Wrestling just to name a few. Or is it just football?

How about girls wrestling or coed wrestling it just doesn’t have a good outcome for any involved parties. I know it’s controversial, but there are traditional places for men and likewise for women…what’s wrong with that? And thank you for making my point regarding softball, men/boys have their things and Women/Girls have their things.

Well obviously I disagree. I just wasn't expecting on a high school football message board to actually have someone making the argument that we should have less high school football but whatever suits you. You 100% have the right to your opinion.

I did not know that. Interesting.
Currently, there are only four teams that play it.

Not surprisingly, they are all CPL teams. Hancock, Juarez, Taft, and Young.

EDIT: I should say that there are only four teams that are registered at the moment. There are also only 6 Boys Rugby teams, and I was surprised to read that Brother Rice wasn't one of them.

That’s fine you’re entitled to your opinion, in my opinion football is Tackle and played amongst men or boys. Yes, I’m aware they are also adding it to the Olympics which I think is crazy, but then again I suppose it’s about monetizing football to the world.

I don’t even think he has a right to this opinion. It’s just wrong on so many levels. Why would girls be prevented from playing football and using flag football (which has been awesome for so many girls) as a reason that the “wheels were off the bus”? Because of some backwards 1950’s view that men/boys have their places and women/girls have different places? That type of backwards thinking shouldn’t be tolerated

CSL,

I didn’t say I was right I just said that’s my opinion. When you stop “tolerating” opinions that’s backward thinking. At least I admit I have an opinion that is not popular with many people, please do some self assessment about your own way of looking at the world.

With all due respect, tolerating an opinion that says girls shouldn’t be allowed to play football, even flag, is not something I’m willing to do and generally people shouldn’t tolerate.

Hey Cru. Since we all are just going to argue. And now that we are now arguing about girls participation, can you at least change the title to now read 7A-8A? Just saying.

I don’t agree with Jwar on girls flag football, but he is entitled to his opinion.

CSL,
I recognize and am happy to validate your opinion, I just don’t agree with it and prefer a healthy debate. That said my opinion is not going to change much today.

Traditionalist isn't one of the words that describes you.
Cyclone630,

I’m sorry you feel that way. I honestly would just like to find some middle ground on everything. Why do we need to insist women can do everything men can do and men can do everything women can do. There are simply things men can’t do and things women can’t do, and things we can’t do without each other. I think if you got to know me you’d find we agree on a lot of things.

updated IHSA statement --
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has announced that it will hold its 2025 Class 5A and Class 6A Football State Championship games at Illinois State University’s Hancock Stadium on Tuesday, December 2at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM, respectively.

The 5A state title game between St. Francis and Providence Catholic will kick off at 3:00 PM and be followed by the 6A championship between East St. Louis and Fenwick. All tickets previously purchased through the ISU ticket office will be honored.

The IHSA is continuing to work on rescheduling the Class 7A(Brother Rice vs. St. Rita) and Class 8A(Mount Carmel vs. Oswego) championship games, with the intention of playing them on eitherWednesday, December 3 or Thursday, December 4.

“There are still some logistical hurdles to clear in regard to the rescheduling of the Class 7A and 8A games,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson. “It is our intention to have that finalized by Saturday (Nov. 29) evening. We appreciate the patience and support of the competing schools and our partners at ISU and in Bloomington-Normal as we navigate this unprecedented situation.”

The IHSA held its Class 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A Football State Championship games at Hancock Stadium on Friday, November 28. During the Class 2A contest, ISU announced that it would be closing its campus on Saturday, November 29 due to the impending winter storm. The campus closure forced the postponement of the Class 5A–8A title games.
