Have to say

I feel pretty good about the two SEC West hires today. I was worried about Arkansas getting Gundy and/or Auburn getting Petrino.

You're not alone.

I've been wrong before, but I don't expect either coach to be able to challenge LSU, Bama, or TAMU for dominance. In other words, those games get to stay in the winnable column for little old us.

TAMU had a good year, but loses their line next year. Little Johnny will be running for his life.

AU fans hate this decision ... the guy isn't even on campus and he's already in the hot-seat

Agreed, I'm less scared of Arkansas and Auburn than I was before. They're decent coaches, but not the ones who I see turning either into a powerhouse. They're not game changers.

Bielema could be a very good hire. He's done very well at Wisconsin.

I'm not so sure about Malzahn. If he sticks around at Auburn another year, he gets fired along with Chizik. They were having a losing record with or without him.

So, Malzahn lost the Arky job to Bielema.

No way Malzahn choses Auburn with the Arkansas job open. I am shocked Arkansas did not take Malzahn. Malzahn would nail Calling the hogs. I bet Beliema has a Dana Altman moment.

Bielema did well with Alvarez's guys. In reality, he's been pretty average. With the ascendency of OSU under Meyer and with Perv State appearing to have weathered the storm, I think Bielema saw the hand writing on the wall and got out for a hella deal while he could. I predict he will fizzle in fayettenam.

Take away the impending probation

And Auburn is definitely the better job. How many national titles does Arky have?

This makes me really think that Gus is a filler because they know they are about to get hammered.

It allows Auburn to have a discounted HC while the sanctions pass. They can argue that they got rid of the problem in Chiz and hopefully help thier case.

No way this is who they really wanted.

Auburn continues to hire w/ in the "Family". You have to think that since Malzahn has been a part of the Auburn recruiting "system" that he isn't going to be changing their back room ways. Kirby Smart or others would have been too big a wild card in wanting to exert more control and change their ways. The big money donors keep their power and control, while telling the coach to turn a blind eye to their recruiting tactics and payment system. We'll get you the players (no questions asked) and you win championships.

I'm surprised AU wanted him since he was on staff when the cheating took place and surprised he would want it knowing they are about to get hammered. And I wouldn't think the NCAA would look favorable on it when deciding what penalties to hand out to AU. A lose lose all way around imo.

Well, I think Arkansas vs Auburn is debatable. But more of what I was referring to is that Malzahn is an Arkansan. Arkansan's love Arkansas and would choose Arkansas all day long and twice on Sundays. Regardless if there is a equal to slightly lesser (in their eyes) job open elsewhere.

It's a big mistake to just assume A&M loses all those guys on the OL simply because they project high in the draft. All juniors from rich A&M families that put a premium on a degree... At least one of those tackles are likely coming back.

Comparing the Arkansas job to the Auburn job isn't even close to debatable. Auburn is a much better job.

Auburn isn't a much better job. Maybe slightly just based on wins over the last 10-15 years.... Auburn's athletic budget is higher. Auburn has more athletes in close proximity. However, AU splits that talent is a number of directions.

Arkansas has a sizeable athletic budget too. Enough to get the job done for sure. They have FULL support of their state rather than being the step child......the step child of a much, much bigger brother. Arkansas has 1st class facilities. As nice and in some sports better than Auburn. Also, Arkansas has no problem bringing in talent when they have a compentent coach.....and Arkansas produces some talent itself too.

Why do you people think Auburn is going to get in trouble with the NCAA???

It isn't going to happen.. They cheated and got away with it...

We are Mississippi State..
