What a absolutely disgusting article Jerry Carino wrote trying to focus blame on the fans after last nights loss. I was at the game and the crowd was awesome last night, there is nothing else anybody in the crowd could do to help the team not play as uninspired as they did. McConnell, Hyatt, Cliff, and Mulcahy are all older or the same age as 4 players on the Knicks they aren’t soft little children they can handle being booed after bad performance so trying to paint a narrative that our fan base was in the wrong for being upset is embarrassing for Carino

Let's be honest the crowd was great and Carino deep inside is still a Hall alum and hates RU. But to be honest if you read these boards and how some of our macho fans attack players and coach, he has a point.

Hunter hit a 3 and was taunting the crowd, wonder if that was what Carino referring to and he thought we were booing the team? If so what an absolute clown he is. The crowd couldn't have tried to lift the team anymore last night, you're gonna have frustrated fans but that headline is total garbage

He would have a point if he were talking about message boards and not making stuff up about people booing.
Message boards are a place for fans to vent out their frustrations there is nothing abnormal going on this message board that isn’t happening on every other power 5 message boards in the country. You think the Michigan State message boards would be all positive if they had a loss like this?

No? But if he wrote some article about people on message boards being negative or whatever at least it would be accurate if not noteworthy. This article isn't even accurate.

Even if it were true that some people booed the fact that was his main takeaway of the game after the crowd was so awesome last night shows he has a anti Rutgers agenda

I saw that ... What is he talking about? I left with a minute to go but I didn't hear any booing from up in the 300s (except for at the officials and Hunter Dickinson once or twice)

I didnt hear any boos directed at Rutgers and ive been going for 30 plus years so i would know. There were a few boos i believe directed toward Michigan antics

Baffled when I saw his story last night complete trash like most journalists

Its a bs thing to write and he is always looking to slam ru fans and this us message board even calling us hysterical after the Nebraska loss...as if

I guess we went to a different game. When Paul missed the free throws to make us about 3-14 I heard a few exasperated boos that one time. That's it. The students were in their seats wearing black as soon as the gates opened and the crowd was as jacked as I can remember well before tipoff. The team we have now is one of the worst offensive teams I can remember at Rutgers.

Of course, I sit in the 100's not up in the 200's where the press is located. And we all know, we folks in the 100s, just sit on our hands and be quiet so maybe it's a little different upstairs.

Jerry is bipolar when it comes to his takes on crowds and fanbases. Good point above his tired takes on "hysterical" message board posters like that's something unique and isn't the same everyone in the world where anyone cares about a program. He often goes way, way overboard (at least in his tweets) on the positive side, talking about how manic the atmosphere often is in games he attends. Then, on the flip side, this nonsense. An entire article about how crappy the Rutgers fans are. This is the most patient fanbase in the world when it comes to bad basketball and for anyone not actually there they think we are like Eagles fans with catcalls and boos raining down on college players. Freaking ridiculous. I'm pretty much the board defender and apologist for the sportswriters who cover this university's team but this is so far off the mark, I can't even tell you.

I usually like Carino but he was way off the mark on this. That pic is of the student section cheering the team with the R-U chant. There were a couple of moments of displeasure when we kept throwing the ball away or missed free throws, but they were scarce, subdued and very brief. After going up 10 early we were outscored by 25, and it wasn't so much that we got our asses kicked as much as how it happened. The missed FTs set the stage, then the turnovers, lack of energy and focus on offense. Even with that, there was virtually no booing, just a sad resignation to a game that had promise and quickly dissipated into ineptitude against a team we can't stand.

I've been blocked on Twitter by the great Jerry Carino for his very questionable and one sided articles during the rebuild.....and I never tweeted anything, he blocked me because I said he had low credibility based on a post I made here on the Rivals board.....so he is just reading the crazy fan takes here, which has NOTHING to do with last night's game.....there were NO boos of the players for RU.....

It is another SHU fan, who happens to be the sole CBB reporter in our state. I am sure he is enjoying reading our board after last night and that's reflected in the article. He is no fan of Pike or RU despite what he may think in his own mind.

And no Jerry, I'm not going to retract this post, like you asked me to years ago. Stay neutral my friend and stick to the FACTS, stop being a hater.....

Why? I quoted the part I was responding to.

Sometimes people post like multiple paragraphs and you want to respond to one point, it doesn't make much sense to quote the whole thing. It's not like I misrepresented your post or something.
I don't write novels. Don't qoute it at all since not taking the entire post does not necessarily reflect what I said and would prefer it not attributed to me.

I mean, it is (part) of what you said?

If I happen to remember this preference of yours in the future I will quote your entire post. But if I forget.. then, well, sorry.

I was in the 200s, lots of groans (and many from me). The team was not booed, maybe some light displeasure at the end as we (poorly) played out the string. The crowd was great and up for it but what a painful one to watch, especially with an old annoying Michigan fan next to me that was texting half the game.

Carino will write 3 articles on RU and one will be complimentary, one will be a total hack job, and the third will be generally fair but include a couple subtle jabs at RU. Gotta keep an eye on this shoe alumn for sure.

Complete trash..I sat 2nd row from the court and it was an electric crowd. Now if he was referring to Nebraska game I couldn’t argue that.

Last night was not in the fans in any shape or form..they were out last night and more than ready!!!
