After 2 games I think the signs point to good defense. The O is still a question mark.
I agree but only because there hasn't been a need to run our full offense or take risks. Some point to the Temple game being 13-7 in the 4th, but if Temple doesn't score there, I think Greg is perfectly happy to take the air out of the ball and win a 13-0, 16-3 type of game keeping everything under wraps for another week. But once it got close, we opened things up a bit and steamrolled them.

This 100%. Our most critical fans need to take a step back and realize that Rutgers is yet to record a punt without having at least a +13 point lead. I’m sure that won’t last but it’s not “nothing”. OSU has punted 4 times already while leading by 7 or less. Even Michigan punted their first series in their East Carolina game.

Good teams always punt more when they have a lead. Michigan punted 3 times (and also threw a pick) in the second half of the UNLV game. Why should the second half punts in our NW game be viewed differently? When your looking to run out the clock and get through a game without any injuries, conservative play makes sense even though it results in some punts.

Very interesting point.

I do think Warner and Temple could have been very tough. The pre-game info suggested he is a 3-step or 5-step drop and then throw the ball.. hard to sack because he doesn't spend time back there.

In recent years I had suggested we do that with Vedral to muster some kind of pass attack. Timing patterns thrown quickly to open areas where its up to the WR or TE or RB to just "get there". No reading coverage post-snap.. other than to possibly tuck the ball and run. That is one way to avoid demanding OL's give you 4-5 seconds to throw the ball.

We saw that early in the Temple game.. but our defense responded. We made Warner doubt his pre-snap reads.. he took more time and we started getting to him. .. and we got him to turn it over.

We might very well have a complete team this season. That would be nice.

Funny stuff. Not so much that he chose Virginia Tech as his upset pick of the week, but I’m not sure where he’s getting that they have more offensive playmakers than us based on the first 2 weeks of play. Hopefully we don’t make him look like a genius.

My take is their best chance of beating us (by far) is with their defense forcing Gavin to make bad decisions.

I guess Jerry must have Purdue winning out starting with a road win at Michigan next week? He still has them in the Quicklane bowl.

Wow, that'd be quite the season-ending run by the Boilermakers! I'm not sure they get to four wins, and would take the under on 4.5 for sure.
