John Cohen reminds me of how my dad described people. If he was half as smart as he thinks he is he would be twice as smart as he really is 17em I hope we hang 60 on him Saturday and leach is passing with a min to go
Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to comment.I heard that Scott Stricklin was the reason Champ died and John Cohen had iron-clad proof and threatened to make it public if Keenum didn’t give him the AD job.
To prevent a huge black eye to the university, Keenum agreed to allow Stricklin to quietly resign and take a job wherever he could get one. I’m not sure where he ended up, but I heard it was some backwater north Florida town. Keenum agreed that Cohen could be the AD for 5 years, but after that, “you need to start shopping around”.
Cohen, unable to find leverage on Keenum in the span of 5 years, called his buddy Butch Thompson and asked him if he had any dirt on Allen Greene at Auburn. Butch told him no, but that football is looking really shaky. Cohen asked him if he would tank, but Butch told him “no” because he he wanted to keep his job. Butch said the best he could do was “tank against the SEC teams so our SOS stays high for next season. Besides, if we lose to Ole Miss, so what? Not like they’re going to win out anyway, right?”
Months later, Greene is out and Cohen is in.
Now, obviously, I wasn’t in the room for these calls, but I have a very reliable source in the AD office (horshack, it’s horshack) feeding me this intel.***
So John is goat? Maybe he does know because he's JohnI had two classes with JC at State and he didn't seem very smart to me. LIke someone above said, he seemed like one of those people who think that they are smart when they are the only ones who think so. It worried me when he was announced as the baseball coach and nothing he did really alleviated those worries. When he was announced as the AD, I was really worried and again, nothing he did as AD, showed me that I was wrong about him.
who thinks they are smarter than everyone else but when they try to explain their reasoning - it shows how much of an idiot they truly are.
Once I get the all clear to share some info - I will do it.

Restaurant quality. Would read aGAIN.I heard that Scott Stricklin was the reason Champ died and John Cohen had iron-clad proof and threatened to make it public if Keenum didn’t give him the AD job.

Football players are smarter than baseball players? Mmmmm...kay.I think John's opinion of himself may have been elevated partly due to being around primarily baseball people his whole life. Not that there aren't smart people in baseball, but there's not quite the opportunity to use intelligence as an advantage in the way there is say in football. And someone of lesser intelligence isn't as likely to get beat by it the way it is in football. I mean, look at how amazed everybody was by somebody figuring out that OBP was a big deal.
I don’t really care how good of a coach he was on the diamond, he was derelict in his duty with nil and really put is in a financial pickle. The Cohen brown noses covering up for him did a lot of damage too.Baseball players that played with him said he was a bit too intense and cussed like a sailor often. I've been to a father son baseball camp that he led and he gave the talk about only recruiting players that had good morals as well as good talent. Can't just have talent.
Other than that I have no first or second hand knowledge. It does seem like he was at work much more often than at home but that's just speculation.
you should be banned for that postI was told that the sexy dugout texts to Can of Zorro were not to/from blondie but none other than the IB himself. He had to Can Andy to cover up his love of all things manly. My sources are impregnable. oh yeah ********

Based strictly on intelligence, if Keenum, Cohen, and Leach are in the same room, Cohen is a distant third. And that distance could be measured in light years.Since it’s now ok to say, the smartest guy in the room tag is nauseating. I don’t know if it was misunderstood or misused, but the full saying is “if you’re the smartest guy in the room, you’re in the wrong room”. So, when he was hired for example, Keenum calling Cohen the smartest guy in the room would be just saying he had outgrown his previous position and was ready to take that next step in his professional development.
To put that into perspective, we were bombarded by people assuring us that he was hyper intelligent. He was so unqualified they literally had to drive it into our fan base that he was capable and not just a baseball bro. That should have been a pretty large flag.

Well, at least smarter than the ones that can’t figure out that’s not what I said.Football players are smarter than baseball players? Mmmmm...kay.
This is exactly what I was thinking of re: overthinking and tinkering when he would have been better off doing nothing.I don’t know that MSU has ever employed a bigger micro-manager or over-thinker than John Cohen. You could see it when he was the baseball coach too. His last game as baseball coach is a perfect example of that. It’s a Super Regional elimination game and he pulls Rooker in the middle of a two homer game for a defensive sub. The game ends up in extra innings and we don’t have our hottest hitter available because we voluntarily took him out of a game that was still in doubt.
I will not miss him. 14 years of his schtick is more than enough. I’m elated that we get to have a new AD now.
This is a fantastic way to put his tenure.Cohen bunted too much as a coach and bunted too much as AD. Good Riddance Bunter.
John was good at baseball. AD of baseball was about all of he should have beenYou can't blame Rooker for not having nice things to say about Cohen and the impact the IB had on his college career. John's positive impact on players he coached put lots of them in the Bigs but it no way do we have to accept sub par AD work just because he did good baseball things. Good job on Leach and Jans. I've never seen high paid executives that are successful not work their a$$es off and if they didn't get results, they were canned. They are under the gun constantly.
Right, John Cohen the Coach and John Cohen the AD are two different people to me. Similar tendencies but different people.John was good at baseball. AD of baseball was about all of he should have been

ARE YOU SAYING YOU DONUT LIKE SMALL BALL —- OR SMALL BALLS?*******Cohen bunted too much as a coach and bunted too much as AD. Good Riddance Bunter.
Agreed. A cooler head would have prevailed in that situation IMO. Never in my wildest imagination would I EVAH thought I'd be freaking on Women's Hoops the way I was during Vic's days. I really miss those times. John sure didn't mind taking away nice things from us IMO. Not condoning the situation that was but I think Abuse VS Consenting Adults needs to be looked at differently. Not that I'm a huge WBB fan but I do have a problem with an AD that gets crossways with and at least aids in running off possibly the top HC (or very close to it) we've ever had in any sport in Vic Schaefer. Lemonis got the NC but given the program he inherited I don't see that as equal to taking a program that was an afterthought on campus and making it to 2 NC games. That's one coach you would have thought Cohen would have worked overtime to keep happy.
Kudos for the subtle pronoun usage.I know the real story. The whole thing. My gender reassigned relative has been tight with Nel since spending time together volunteering at a nonprofit. Them told me all about it yesterday. I’ll post the whole story after DS tells what he knows, just to fact check him.
