Surely most of that weight came from being still during his acl injury. I cant imagine his playing weight will be +40lbs from last time he played. That wouldnt be good for that knee
It was a really large ACL they inserted to replace the old one.

My son had the same type of injury a year ago and he gained a lot of muscle by lifting weights. He only lost .1 in his 40 speed and he’s doing great in football. He’s wearing a heavy brace and the doctor only says he has to do that because he doesn’t come off the field (plays offense and defense and special teams). I would expect JQ to be even better off because of the resources available to him.

How long was your son's recovery time?

No chance he gained 40 pounds while rehabbing a knee. I mean we all could easily, but nobody wants that for JQ. What actually happened was the 215 was a misprint or something, because I remember seeing that and feeling pretty certain it was off to the low end.

There is no way this kid grew almost two inches and gained 40 lbs since getting here. No way in hell. Unless he’s wearing high heels and just got really fat from butter.

I could see 2 inches if they are measuring in shoes. Some of the max recovery running shoes are thick. 40 pounds seems extreme to me. I’m not sure I’d be happy if I was his Dr in that part. When I was running long distances gaining 5 lbs seem to make me to heavy for my frame and I’d start sucking wind more. 40lbs seems ridiculous after the type of injury/surgery he had.

I can believe some of it. Maybe he's a little taller and 15-25 lbs heavier from not being able to play and lifting. Not sure I'm buying 40 lbs though.

JQ not even cleared for no contact activity. It's mid September, doubt we ever see him on the floor.
I’m not ready to go quite that far, but this was very much predicted by some here when JQ committed.

Pope had the biggest budget in the country and spent it all on an over abundance of role players and a star coming off major knee surgery.

He started full contact in spring practice 6 months from the day of his surgery, just like the surgeon said. We have 1 more visit left just after football season and the surgeon thinks he won't have to wear the brace for basketball. They put him on several supplements to help speed his healing and it really worked. The surgeon said that it looked like he's way ahead of schedule during our last visit in July.

He was cleared for full speed and contact 6 months from surgery, which was the first day of spring football practice. He had been running straight line and cutting but no contact for 6 weeks prior. The surgeon put him on some supplements which helped the healing process. His last visit will be just after football season ends and the surgeon expects him to play basketball without the brace. I would expect JQ to be ready to go around 6 months after his surgery, because I doubt his injury was any more severe than my son's was (completely torn ACL which was reconstructed from another ligament, meniscus torn in 4 places, strained MCL, and a little damage to his upper lower leg bone). My son is very blessed that he's even able to play at all.
