tonight. Until I actually see a statement from the University or Scott Stricklin that we lost 200K on this, I won't believe it. If we had over 22K paid attendees to the concert, thatswell over 500K. The people on the field paid 50 bucks and it was packed. So, I'd say we had over 600K in ticket sales not including concessions. No way in Hades this shindig cost over 800K to put on. NO FREAKING WAY!

Win or lose, it was a great experiment from a very progressive administration has been bringing it strong for years now. Who else had a name-brand concert on their football field right after a spring game? Yeah...nobody. MSU - 1st to hashtag the endzone, first to make the spring game a real party...take that, flagship.

if it got people into Starkville who wouldn't normally be there (non-football fans and people from surrounding states who come just for cheap Sugarland tickets), it's going to be good for us in the long run.

And secondly, there were about 5,000 student tickets sold, which went for 15

Fine. Over 500K was brought in from tickets regardless. And I still say, no way in Hell we lost 200K on it.

Has anyone else put on a concert in conjunction with their spring football game?

And I know of a girl that I work with that went to Ole Miss that went to the concert, so we got somebody!

Overall, it sounds like SBW was very successful.

See that is how you prove something instead of just typing something for all to believe. And I'm not talking about you Paper Dog. I'm talking about whoever says we lost 200K today. I will have to see that officially somewhere before that can even process in my head.

I just knew at the stadium today 25 and 35 dollar tickets were available

And the Reflector said student sales were around 5,000 ... they cut those sales off about two weeks ago ... and they were 15

Thanks for the clarification

$ 75,000 - 5000 $15 student tickets
$102,000 -1700 $60 club level seats. SOLD OUT
$397,600- 15,904 remaining tickets at just $25 per ticket. Not including the 35.00 or 50.00 field tickets.
$ 574,600 - Total! And this is low because of the 35 and 50 dollar tickets sold for the field level.

So, again, how do we lose money with almost 600,000 dollars brought in not including concessions? Again I say no way!

How many people are at the baseball game today if it weren't for the football game and concert? That's 9,000 people that would have likely been closer to 5,000 had it not been for the football event. How much is the average ticket at Dudy Noble? Hell, at $10 bucks a ticket that's nearly $100,000. No doubt it was a successful weekend for our athletics. I bet Stricklin would strongly agree, even if we somehow lost a little money or just broke even. The exposure was worth it.

Music Maker members distributed armbands to all the students in their section. I saw a few folks that were not students get arm bands. Kind of sucks for those that payed for it.

We had 13,000 people not buying any concessions this year, compared to last year. Not saying that it didn't make a profit, but that is one component that shouldn't beforgotten.

I have no clue how accurate this is, but according to this data, sugarland goes for about $100k-$150k right now. I agree that there's no way state lost $200k.

This. Several people I know just happened to be on the right section and their $15 tickets got them on the field.

Were Southern fans but came to watch Sugarland but got there early enough to take the 4 15-16 year olds with them around campus and watch the Spring Game.

They did nothing but brag about the campus and really enjoyed the concert. The teenagers were talking during the concert about all of them were going to come to school here.

Now who knows if they will ever come back to Starkville but it was pretty cool listening to a group that have never been to State talk about it in a positive way.

By the time those who watched the whole baseball game would have made it over to the stadium, the spring game would have been 30-45 minutes over with.

But here is the glaring thing that stood out to me last night. There were high school kids everywhere. This could have been a great recruiting weekend and event for future attendees of MSU. I'm not talking just Starkville academy and West Point either. <div>
</div><div>And I would also find it hard to believe MSU lost money on the event, Not only were there a lot more people there than I would have imagined on a cooler day like it turned out to be, the concession stands were struggling to keep up and were having to re supply. That tells me they blew their estimates of what would be sold out of the water. They were running out of pizza at the stands at halftime of the spring game. Dreamland should have been open for business.</div>
