I finally had to start over because I couldn't figure out how to bring my old account over, so this really isn't my first post.I meant to start this discussion last week, so please don't blast me for talking about the Bama game again.I went to the game in Tuscaloosa and here's one glaring thing I noticed. They have speakers that are completely AROUND the stadium, not just at one end like us. It had the most incredible sound I've heard at a stadium event. You could actually hear what was being said by the announcer and it completely motivated the crowd. Add to that, they pipe in crowd noise thru those speakers! When the game was over in the 3rd quarter, they have that stupid strength coach on their jumbotron telling the fans to get up and start screaming before a kickoff. You would have thought all 100K were standing up screaming, but it was being piped in. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I watched the crowd and everybody was sitting down, but the crowd noice coming thru those speakers was loud and intense. The crowd eventually stood up and started cheering, and then they cut it off right when they kicked off to us, similar to our "DON"T RING" slogan on our Jumbotron. Was very impressed with how they were able to make every Tide fan feel like they were screaming their heads off, when it was piped in. Also, they don't punish their fans with "Physics of the Game" when A & M took it to 21-0. At some point, our media department has to use their heads. Maybe just hold off on the ads, but I know that this has been discussed in great detail before. Also, I haven't seen this discussed, but did anyone notice that same Bama Strength coach doing his version of the "Dog Pound Rock" when the score was out of reach before Bama kicked off in the 3rd? I laughed my *** off at that. We deserved that 100%. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think it's time to retire the DPR. From the looks of it Saturday, half of the team doesn't even want to do it. Stop with the dancing and play football.

The Dog Pound Rock

looks terrible. This was a dance done by the Special Teams unit ONLY. There is no reason to have 320lb lineman doing this dance. This would add an extra incentive to be on special teams and bring some swagger back to that unit which is desperately needed.

Our game day atmosphere is going to continue to suck. We pretty much sold our soul to learfield sports. They control the video board during games. That is why you see us run nothing but ads over and over again. Unlike schools like Bama where they ran their ads on the ribbon boards and maybe did 3 to 4 commercials on their video screens.

I am all for doing away with the DPR. Back in the day it was awesome, and we could back it up. I sit on the east side right behind the visitors bench. Most of the visiting SEC teams laugh at it.

Bama's sound system is awesome. I know nothing about sound distribution, but there is no way to evenly distribute sound from one set of speakers. It is almost beyond belief that someone fell for that. They could at least put up closed captioning**.

One more thing on the video board. I listened to the Ole Miss broadcast on the way home Saturday. They kept referencing the ND vs Pitt game being played on the jumbotron at UGA during timeouts. They were talking about how everyone was cheering for Pitt. So UGA is showing other games during timeouts. That is an awesome idea.

The Commercials

This weekend was the first opportunity I've had to attend a game in over 2 years (live far, far away). Other than the on-the-field debacle, that video board was the next most excrutiating aspect to endure. The commercials are awful. I had seen notes on this board critiquing, but the reality was even worse than I'd imagined. Hope to God we can pay off whatever is owed and take back control of the content. Embarassing.

I could have stayed home Saturday and watched on TV and seen less commercials than what we show on the jumbotron. I guess we have to make money somehow though.

How much can speakers cost?

It just amazes me that we can put banners all over the stadium; Ribbon boards that are updated about every quarter if we're lucky; hash tags in the endzone that old timers like me could give a **** about; snow bowl edited video that absolutely sucked; and the most god awful commercials I've ever seen.

Speakers can't be that much! We can afford all of this crap, but not a decent sound system? It's like we bought the big screen TV but opted out of the sound package to save money.

And don't get me started on Bullock Toyota. Is it me or does the end of that commercial remind you of the "What do you bench" Skit from SNL?

Alabama ran ads all through the game against us. I was there. They ran just as many as we do. It just tends to piss us off more when we are getting our *** kicked and being forced to watch that crazy *** looking couple with the Cadillac dealership during every dead ball. Nobody gives a rip about a commercial when you are winning.

This Is Our State video has to go.

The fans have just been pumped up with other pregame stuff, then this mellow, soothing video comes on. Its the most anticlimactic thing that happens in DWS - besides losing.

Maybe that's what he is doing with those fingers - sucking the life out of the stadium.

I've always assumed that Bullock toyota guy...

was either a wrestler or a wanna-be wrestler.

This. I said Saturday that I would rather watch Johnny Manziel run for another touchdown than see the damn Physics of Football play. And I was 100% serious about that. It's not like him scoring aGAIN would matter and all the physics did was piss me off even more. It's the ghey and you can't hear **** he says.
