you know how it works at RU. The next alert you get will be that JH backs her head coach and thinks he is doing a great job. man I wish they would fire this clown but they wont.

This is 1000x more likely.

There's a better chance of hell freezing over today. I obviously want him gone badly but you're clearly delusional if you think it's happening today tomorrow or next week.
Oh believe me, I realistically don't think it'll happen. But damn, after yesterday's garbage, I just want something positive to believe in

No kidding – this has been a dumpster fire of the season starting just before the first kick off…

Don't want to get too flowery but maybe do what I do....

Believe in the young men who put on the uniform. That's all we got.

While I think there is a 95% chance of that happening, I see no reason to not let the season play itself out.

We're poor and Hermann has said a number of times she evaluates coaches at the end of the season.

Not happening.

I think everyone here knows that I root for the football team but am not as deeply into it as a lot of you. In that context, my question is whether anyone had expectations about the last two games before the season that are different from what happened. It doesn't make any sense to say he should be fired now if you thought these two games were going to be blowouts when the season started.

Actually, if folks are still expecting blowouts then that should be an indictment against Fludd. The reason fans have low expectations and expect blowouts is because thats the standard Flood has set over the years.

This is a perfect example of lowering the bar and not holding Fludd accountable. It's also the reason why the narrative is always...if Fludd can win this game or that game then he should be retained, despite the fact that he has already shown that he should be fired. No wonder Fludd always talks about 1 game seasons, year after year that's what it seems to amount to when it comes to his job security.

I guess I'm asking a different question - what is it about the last two games that makes the situation any different from the beginning of the year, or, put another way, are there some people who really didn't want to fire Flood before these games who want to fire him now and, if so, why?

Do you think there should be a website or some kind of fan campaign to fire Flood like fans of other schools do? I am only asking because I am wondering if the AD and others are aware how unhappy fans are and how much they'd like to see Flood fired.

There was no reason to expect Wisconsin to blow us out. None at all. They probably scored more against RU than against anybody this season. They have had a strong defense but never scored like this.

Not until you have a replacement lined up

Do you serious think we could get someone worse than Flood? Don't forget he didn't have a head coaching resume. He got the job by default. It really shouldn't be difficult to replace him with someone better.

Unless the outside consulting team hands their report in, the next week or so, and there are MORE allegations against Flood, I wouldn't expect anything until after the Maryland game. While I would prefer it sooner rather than later, and do believe there are "benefits" to doing so now, I'm not so sure we wouldn't end up with the same "pool" of realistic candidates regardless. Also, as opposed to others, I'm a firm believer - for now - of 2 things:

- we will pay for a proper staff (not OSU/Michigan/PSU level, but more than the current staff earns, without question)

- there WILL be guys we want who don't care about the crap they would have to deal with her re: media and administration. Being in the media capital of the world AS WELL AS, arguably, what year-in-and-year-out will be one of the 3 best divisions in the FBS, IS going to be attractive to some (believe it or not...) IMHO.

So, for those of you who think I've truly turned to the dark side, LOL, think again! [thumb2][thumb2][thumb2]

I will try and answer the question. Prior to fall camp I was 100% in Flood's corner. The guy was 7 games over .500 as the head football coach at RUTGERS. We do not fire head coaches with winning records especially those who run clean programs. When the arrests hit, I wasn't happy but I said let's see how the season plays out. When the academic violation stuff came out and coach was suspended I was even more unhappy but I said let's see how the season plays out. Well, the season has played out now and given the combination of off the field incidents and the non-competitiveness we are showing on the field yet again (no improvement over last year) I think it's a no-brainer to move on from HCKF at this time. No off the field stuff and I'd probably live with him for another year but my mind is made up. He can win out (after Michigan because there's no shot in hell we beat them) and I'd still say he should go.

Flood completely lost my support after we learned of his attempt to get Nadir Barnwell academically eligible again by changing his grade at least one month after it was already finalized, one that was bumbling, knowing, and involved a complete disregard of the football program's academic advisors. The player arrests and dismissals for armed robbery and assault indicated to me that he has lost control of team discipline. This opinion was not going to change based on the outcome of the last two games.

And while there is a certain expectation and high possibility of getting blown out by #1-ranked, defending national champion OSU, there is no excuse for getting blown out by an unranked Wisconsin team. its unacceptable to not only be nearly blanked out defensively, but also to allow their second-highest offensive output of the season.

Except that they blew us out last year on our own field when we had a senior starting at quarterback.

Do you realize how BAD our defense is right now? How anyone thought they weren't going to score - and even I went "light" in predicting, IIRC, 35-7 - is beyond me. Here are the facts lighty, and remember this includes a game against a God-awful FCS program, too:

Ummm, that shouldn't have happened either. That's the Fludd mentality, they blew us out last year so why wouldn't they blow us out this year. Again, this is how the bar is constantly lowered for Fludd.

Very much disagree with this point. In the past we have seen coaches avoid the RU job ( MBB and FB) based on the impression that a new HC cannot win at RU. We have a long history of this happening to us.

With the current RU Administration in place being more interested in budget neutrality than in winning I believe this problem will be far worse than it was in the past. A weak president and AD, a PC environment, poor media relations, and a fickle fanbase are more icing on the cake.

The good news is that we just to find one guy to take the job. I believe that this is possible if Greg Brown can find the guy who did what Greg did starting in 2000. Barchi and Hermann are major negatives in the next HC search IMO. No amount of lipstick can hide that situation.

Just waiting for the alert that Flood is fired. It would be an early Christmas present. Cmon Julie, make it happen.
Its only a Christmas present if we get an upgrade. If we go out and hire out 8th choice, its likely that its like firing Water to hire FHJ or FHJ to hire Rice.

Well there is only one way to find out, I'd rather take a shot at hiring a better coach, (which shouldn't be too hard), as opposed to continuing the downward spiral Fludd has us on.

We must have battered wives syndrome, we know we have a bad husband but we stick with him because we think we can't do any better. IMO, that's a very bad mentality.

Keeping this current downward trend could be the biggest mistake an RU AD may make. Forget Grunninger who aligned with PSU (and wvu) as opposed to catholic bball schools which looked awful in retrospect but not totally unreasonable at the time.

If we establish a cellar dwelling cheap culture, it could last a decade or more to rectify. Flood is driving this steadily downward from the GS years of growing respect both academically and as a bona fide opponent. He shows no signs of changing--he needs to be relieved of his position.
