This is a huge game with conference championship implications. Matchups makes games and this is definitely an interesting matchup. Both teams does things that will give the other team problems. SP’s flex bone offense against a young aggressive KM defense that starts 6-7 sophomores. Not the idea scenario for the Mountaineers’ defense. KM offense will need to support their defense by scoring points so SP cannot grind the clock out on them. The Mountaineers have to utilize their speed on offense and open up their passing game. Spread SP out and make them defend the whole field. SP will need to keep the KM offense off the field and defend the pass better. Field position, special teams, and turnovers will decide this one. I will make my game prediction later this week.

True how true but the flex bone this season has turned into a ham bone. Not much flex and a whole lot of Tyson (sic) . South Point needs this one worse than KM. I don’t know if they want it more. There’s got to be some major improvement from last week. GO BIG RED
I think the weather is going to play a factor this week too. Km is much faster than we are so a wet field helps us. If it stays dry I think we're in for a big passing night from km. Wishing safe travels to all the km fans coming down for the game.
Yes we definitely prefer not to play on a muddy track. I agree that SP will have the advantage in wet field conditions. Either way I am expecting a highly competitive game.
I agree with you shelbyfan1. SP needs some type of passing game. QB does not have a strong arm.Shorter routes and don't throw when everyone knows you are going to. This year SP only has average speed at the wings. This hurts the triple option. Can not continue to run #31 as much as they have. Just my humble opinion. One thing about the team this year, they don't give up.
Belmont has always been a tuff place to play, HOPE the VERY YOUNG MOUNTIES can give them a GAME.
We try to play everyone tough,but km will definitely be the favorite in this one. We'll be lucky to keep it close.
I think most SP posters agree the offense is struggling without speed on the wings. I’m going to throw this out there and y’all rip me to shreds for saying it. Move #31 to a wing. There’s your speed and strength. Then change #65’s number to 49 and put him at fullback. He’s probably not going to have any long runs but he can most likely get two or three a carry. Send a receiver across the middle a few times a game. And lastly, like the first play from scrimmage last week, throw the ball when they don’t expect it. If SP threw the ball 6 or 8 times a game and was successful 3 or 4 that would open the running game up a little more.

31 is our fb, that part doesn't need to change. Maybe put 5,8, or 21 at wing from time to time. It's 2 platoon or bust with us, our best players aren't always on the field when they should be. Put 12 back at qb and let 7 play wing.

I’m sure they experiment during practice. I just feel a change of some kind needs to be made to stay in the game withKM. It’s getting late in the season to be experimenting in games but SP has got to find a way to give 31 some help

We don’t get to decide. That decision will be made by the coaching staff. We are just throwing out suggestions. I think I heard, before the game they are just going to throw all the jerseys in a pile and players will ware what they draw out. That should give KM some headaches, figuring out who’s who. Probably SP as well.

At this point, I’ll take all the help we can get. Trick plays, rain, turnovers or a call or two going SP’s way. Mr dog may have been basing his thoughts on early season performances against the likes of Lincolnton and East Gaston. (No offense intended) As someone said early in the week, “I just hope SP can keep it close”.
Simmons has KM by 3. I don't think it will be that close. I hate it but, I think KM by 10 to 14 points. But, that's why you play the game.
