So, Diaz, you can stop slow playing Mullen now and get your *** to starkville. I don't need to wake up to any more threads suggesting David Turner might be the next DC.

from Richt. Saban is indeed a purebred *******, but I don't think that's the driving force behind this move.

At least that was the case at LSU, and I just can't imagine a control freak like Saban letting someone else call the defensive plays.

I met the guy that does all the video work for Bama, or heads up the department, and the hours Saban requires of his coaches and staff is ridiculous. He was telling me that he showed up at the coaches' office at 6:05 a.m. and he was supposed to be there at 6:00 am. Saban gave him a look, and at 6:30 pm, that evening, Saban came into his office and basically told him that if he wasn't going to be dedicated like everyone else, that he should look for another job, and that it had been bothering him all day that he showed up late, and wanted him to know it.

Basically Saban went out of his way to rip a guy's head off that had been at the coach's office for over 12 hours. Supposedly this was the norm.

Of course if your a fan of Bama, you could care less if he killed two video guys and put an assistant coach in a wheelchair, but if you are the coaches actually living through it and you can go somewhere else and make more money, or even the same money, you do it.

gives him the chance to really brand his defense, unlike at Bama. Richt is an offensive guy and needs someone that can brand that defense.

they promote Sunseri to DC and bring in Rodney Garner from UGA for Sunseri's spot. Garner is one of UGA's better recruiting assistants.

Personally, I don't think Grantham has much time to job hunt right now.

that when he was leaving Michigan State to go to LSU, not one of his assistants went with him to Baton Rouge... Not sure if that is true or not but that was the story floating around New Orleans at the time.

by the Red Elephant Club. We control the SEC headquarters office, all 56 SEC game officials, the NYC Downtown Athletic Club (Heisman), the Associated Post All-American selection voters, and the Big East Conference game officials who did the BCS Championship game. We're worried that y'all may have figured us out so I've been assigned troll duty. Actually, one of my fraternity brothers from the 70s grew up in Meridian and still has family and friends there. He found out about SPS and told me about the conspiracy theories being discussed as fact on the board. I checked it out and found much of the thinking on here entertaining and amusing though perplexing. It's obvious that y'all have success envy kinda like the people who complain about the wealthy tax payers without realizing the benefits of high achievement which are enjoyed by all. Also, I'm fascinated that the State fan base thinks that "more cowbell" sets forth a positive image for your school. I'm open to being enlightened about the benefits of the cowbell tradition. </p>

First, I am sure the other 10 members of the SEC will agree when I say. I hope y'all get the death penalty. We would survive and do just fine without you. Recently, when your coaching office was a revolving door, the SEC won 2 NCs.

Second, I find it fascinating that some people find wearing Alabama garb sets forth a positive image for your athletic programs.

The benefit, of the cowbell tradition is that it pisses off you and OM so bad. It is interesting that when we play OM that the number of cowbells in the stands in noticably more. Maybe, we can extend this tradition to the Gumpers.

more than the actual accomplishments. If you read any of Wooden's stuff, he was the same way. Says that the only thing he misses from coaching is the practices. Really, not ten straight national titles (or whatever it was), only...practice?

But the point is, Wooden always talks about how he enjoyed the preparation more than the actual games. Saban's probably the same way.

/devil's advocate...Saban's a miserable human who most assuredly deserves his plight of being constantly surrounded by the toothless, inbred, mouthbreathing, NASCAR watching, meth mouthed afterbirth that now deifies him.

You do realize that your fan base is largely comprised of people whose biggest contribution to anything at the University (football, academics, etc.) is the nickel royalty fee Alabama receives when Bubba and Tammy buy their annual crimson tide t-shirt and/or coozie from WalMart. So, if we are going to be analogous to tax payment / benefits we might as well be honest about your fan base. Easily the most annoying thing about Alabama is the masses of sidewalk rednecks that likely couldn't even name a building on campus other than Bryant Denny. I can't think of any other college athletic program where the average fan has such little connection/contribution to the University, yet expects so much out of it every year.

Adam, B.A. (Political Science) in May '75; J.D. in August '78. I still don't have an answer to the cowbell question. It seems as though I hit too close to some maroon homes with the success envy comment.

Did you not see him run it up for no reason in the National Championship? Did you not see him get pissed when he received the Gatorade bath? If he is not an *******, he certainly is wound too tight.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to touch on the subject but how about this: The BCS has a sponsorship agreement with the Dr. Pepper Company to display the BCS National Championship trophy in the champion's home state at one or more Wal-Mart stores. If Texas had won the game the trophy would be on display in Texas. I'm not sure if Mississippi is affluent enough to have Wal-Mart stores outside of the Jackson/Memphis/Gulf Coast areas so I suppose if Ole Miss had won the BCS that the trophy would be at Dollar General. As for the fans admiring the trophy I say God Bless them and I wish them well. I hope their love for the Crimson Tide inspires them and their children to strive for success. And, we appreciate their buying and wearing our apparel. After all, everyone loves a winner and winners wear crimson. As an alumnus of the University I invite all of you to visit the Paul W. Bryant Museum on our campus where you can admire the history of Alabama Crimson Tide football going back to 1892. We've been playing in the Rose Bowl since the 1925 season. You can even see the five national championship trophies from this season and Mark's Heisman. Bring your children.

What's negative about it? It's a tradition. Nothing more. Nothing less. They are loud and obnoxious too all except those who cheer for the maroon and white. We ring them when good things happen. Did I miss the memo on the importance of college athletics traditions and their required benefit to society? We have cowbells. You have ramblings about yellow hammers, a dancing elephant on the sideline, and an infatuation with hounds-tooth.

You seem to think we should be ashamed of a cowbell? Why is that?

Would you say that your education is representative of the majority of your fan base?
