The all-22 shows the truth. Kirby calls timeout and in running down sees AUs safety clapping. Which he can’t do. It should have been a delay of game on AU as the claps happened before Kirby called TO.
Kirby confirmed this in the post game. But the announcers, McElroy in particular were so convinced Kirby was just lying that it drove the narrative.
Now there’s an argument that the TO should have stood bc the clapping wasn’t noticed by officials. But the call ended up being correct-ish.

Not sure how I feel about the deal, but UGA did finish the game with an unused TO. So, the non-enforced TO wound up being inconsequential. So media hype making a big controversy over nothing. Strange, that's never happened before. I do agree the time out should have stood though. If the officials didn't call the penalty when it happened, it can't be reviewed or changed later and the time out should have stood.
I think it’s great. Freeze and all of Auburn feels like they got screwed last night, Smart looks like a giant douche. That’s about the best outcome you could hope forNot sure how I feel about the deal
Only downsides are Kirby Smart had to win and I had family members who are big Aubie fans who were at the game so I do feel sad for them. But that said, 17 Freeze, 17 Cohen, and 17 Auburn.I think it’s great. Freeze and all of Auburn feels like they got screwed last night, Smart looks like a giant douche. I would have given him a choice of a time out or a time out & and unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. If I were the ref, I would have given Kirby a choice of a timeout or a delay of game penalty. Certainly not just reset the clock.
But I didnt realize he was complaining about the Auburn players. So, maybe I would put a couple seconds on the play clock.
He is the winning version of Will Muschamp.Smart is a ridiculous d...bag. He acts like an emotional fan instead of a professional coach. He showed that last year shoving MVB. And again last night.
Where are you on this? If you watch the replay, it does look like Kirby is yelling “clapping” but he’s definitely motioning time out. I don’t think many coaches would have gotten this time out back.

Bc that's simulating a snap count. Should have been a penalty on Auburn. That's why.Hold the 17 up. Kirbi called a timeout out.
FACT.
Why can’t the safety clap?
Specifically, if the offense uses a clap snap count (as UGA and most everyone does) it’s simulating a snap count and a delay of game on the defense. No warnings. Any clap. Delay of game: defense. That’s why Kirby lost his mind.Hold the 17 up. Kirbi called a timeout out.
FACT.
Why can’t the safety clap?
We need jomboy to look at this because I thought it looked like he was saying clapping. He definitely signaled time out though. You could see him saying time out as he's running down the sideline.
