Give me a fvcking break. We had the worst passer in D1 last year.
Ok mister high and mighty. You obviously did not watch much Ohio State this year. This is not about our QB. I'm all for a transfer in and a competition, but will Greg do that? Do we have the NIL money?

Meanwhile forum jocks here would hem and haw and whether McCord should come here v. other QBs, without giving a penny to RU NIL.
not a huge believer in NIL but IF it would bring this guy here I'd up my monthly with a lump sum. can't take another season of this situation on offense.

You heard what Schiano said in the presser yesterday. Open up your wallet if you want several of these top names to wind up here. “ Even if we wanted to” We don’t have the money.” I think that’s what he said ? He was very honest and more than a few have said the same at other schools.
Then for the love of God please get off the $125mm New Fieldhouse demand and find a way to creatively convert some of those $$$ into NIL. (not you 72 , him). Win and then you'll get more donations.
This feels like one of those charities that is always screaming "we're broke" just to grab every $ possible when funds are in the bank.

I'm not sure why you say that. None of us have any idea but I'm in the camp that thinks he was encouraged to leave. Maybe coming to his dad's alma mater for less NIL money would be appealing to him. We don't know. But we do know that if he's looking for a big NIL payday, this is not the right place. We need to allocate our resources toward keeping our defense and getting a wide receiver and tight end.
The other big consideration is why would he come here if he thinks its GW's job and he won't get a fair shake. He's not coming if he's not the guy. Now would Greg do that? IDK. maybe. Maybe not.

How much have you donated to Rutgers athletics in the past 5 years mister big mouth?
he's not coming to RU regardless
Probably right.
we could offer him 2 million in NIL, he isn't coming here. This isn't the type of kid that we should even be discussing. I'm sure Day already has his QB lined up and told him to hit the road.
Yup

Or here's an idea- Greg- why don't YOU open up your wallet (if rules permit), or forego $1M/year in salary to put into NIL pool. Or, instead of taking a raise and extension (if that happens), let that money go to NIL.

The board also clarified that school personnel (including coaches) can assist an NIL entity with fundraising through appearances or by providing autographed memorabilia but cannot donate cash directly to those entities. School staff members also cannot be employed by or have an ownership stake in an NIL entity.

because he's not at our level. He isn't going to go to a school to compete for bowl games. He's competing for championships

Very interesting, indeed. I wonder if this is primarily about making more NIL money or a dissatisfaction with his growth/development there.
I think he is leaving because, although he is a good QB by most standards, he is not an OSU level starting QB and he will likely not start for them next season. They will probably pick up there own transfer or recruit a 5 star Freshman. We have a chance with the RU connection and should definitely pursue.

I’ve been giving $1200 a year to the RFund for for about 15 years. This past year I switched that donation to the Knights of The Raritan.

You can too! You can support the success our our athletic programs and help retain players that thrive in scandal-free programs.

Donation levels start at 10.99 a month (about half a pizza with toppings)!

He definitely got NIL money in addition to a free $125K MB from Markie Mark’s dealership in Ohio.

Can’t be true. Don’t these people read our message boards? They must be making up these QBR numbers. lol

I’ll root for whoever goes on the field for us. Mr Big mouth and others like him will always say our QB sucks when we lose. Yaaawwwwn

Passing stats do matter. If we had a top 50 or so passing QB we would have beaten Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Put Syracuse’s QB Garrett Schrader (a middling starter) on RU and we’d have 8 wins.

I didn’t say they don’t matter. I’m saying they don’t mean Everything. You can’t ignore the other stats and pick the ones you like. QBR accounts for everything.

True but QBs like the one Minnesota just got would be in our wheelhouse if we paid up.

Waste of time discussion because a vast majority on this board don’t donate to NIL. Thus RU won’t have a shot at him- so he won’t want to come.
Bored old men who will discuss every worthwhile transfer target BUT refuse to give a dime. It’s a way to pass the time before death. NIL is not talked about unless it’s ******* on.

I don’t think you understand that we don’t have much in NIL because many don’t want to pay players. Meaning they aren’t doing it, period. The Fieldhouse benefits everyone, and is far more important to our situation than NIL. Our realistic recruiting Pool consists of Non-NIL players.

LOL..I saw you replied then saw the first comment and was like WTF? Haha.
He can't donate direct (as I am sure you know) but your comment is in line with my feelings. I don't begrudge him his current salary but I do like your thought on the raise. For the "can't do that" crowd... simple. Rutgers puts $76mm into fieldhouse (vs. 75) and private funds go to $24 (vs. 25) with the $1miion now going to NIL. Not so hard.

I've posted it way too many times myself but the $ is there. They just need to figure out how to creatively use it (and that is why the get paid what they do). We live in a world of just keep asking for more.

And spending $1-2M on McCord is not a sure fire success.

Also, McCord will look at what RU has versus teams competing for his services (let's take Washington, for example, where Penix (with an"s"!!!!) is graduating). They have a very talented receiver group, and it would be plug and play for him there. No knock on Rutgers, we don't have that........ as Greg likes to say......."yet."

Now, on the other hand, if McCord was given the guarantee that he was the starter, maybe that changes things for him.

Excuses:
Dec 2021:
“I’m a diehard RU fan but I don’t understand how this NIL thing works and RU needs to get a collective together. We’re going to fall behind”

Dec 2022
“I’m a diehard RU fan but I’m not going to donate money to an embarrassing program that GS is running until I see progress”

Oct 2023
“I’m a diehard RU fan but I’m not going to donate until I see how these NILs shake out”

Nov 2023
“I’m a diehard RU fan but money isn’t that important to people when considering a transfer. Rutgers has so much to offer. What, me give money? No f’in way! Yes, I’m aware that money isn’t the most important thing”

Dec 2023
“That kid was never going to come here even if we had a competitive NIL deal for him”

Fieldhouse Al… by the time we get a Fieldhouse built, other programs will already have the next thing. Where will you move the fantasy goalposts ? What the next quixotic goal be ? African safari in Johnson Park ? Or think big, draining the Raritan for a three level football, basketball and hockey venue with three events at once (and gold escalators). Do you think $250 is a good ticket price to allow moving from one game to another?
