This team is clumsy. Out of control dribbling, passing and laying up. Purcell does almost no in game coaching. Just stares and crosses his arms.

I am almost off the Purcel train. About time for a change
Unless Cohen comes to get him, we’ve got him for two more seasons. In this day and age, we just can’t pay a buyout for a program that’s bleeding millions of dollars from our budget every year

What are the chances we promote Victoria Vivians to head coach, and bring back Johnnie Harris as her top assistant?

The problem I have with firing Purcell is that it could be much worse. He does recruit well, girls seem to like him. He should get better with time and we can also bring in an experienced assistant to help him with the X’s and O’s. It’s not easy to get people to come to Starkville and he’s proven he can do that. The last thing I want is to fire him just for the sake of firing him and then end up with a Rick Ray situation, which I consider a real possibility. In other words, you better know exactly who you want AND that they will take the job before doing anything.

I was very disappointed with the game. The last play especially. Aprox. 40seconds left, our ball, tied ballgame, we draw up a play for our player that is way shorter than their 6’6” big to drive the lane and attempt a layup. The layup or drive in the lane is completely dominated by their big. Come on that was horrible.

Yeah, why wouldn't I be? She is a winner. It's always a crapshoot hiring coaches, but on paper it seems like the closest we'll ever come to putting the Schaefer team back together.
In the SEC especially, you usually like, start by hiring a coach that's actually coached before and not one that has only worked part of 1 season with your team as a special assistant. Especially when it's just been put out there that your school lost $4 MILLION dollars on this team last year. She has NO CONCEPT of how to do everything it takes to run a program in this day and age. Let her go back to her high school and start out there for some on the job training

I think this is a good opportunity to go outside the box instead of doing what others "usually" do. It would be a good way to generate buzz and also save some of that $4M loss.

Yeah, it’ll generate some buzz for a little bit. Then when we go 0-16 in the SEC because Vivians has no idea what she’s doing as a coach, the buzz will be long gone and we’ll lose even more money because about 150 people will show up to watch the team get skull drug every game.

Seems pretty far fetched to expect her to be that bad.

We’re not going to be able to bring in a qualified assistant because that would cost money.

State led 64-57 with 3:42 to go. They made 2 free throws out of 4 attempts in that final 3:42. They turned it over 27 times. 27!!! At a time out with 46 seconds to play, Howdy Doody inserted Russell back into the game. She got the ball outside the 3 point line and tried to drive in to score to put Dogs up by 4 but got a block steal by UF, who tied it up 66-66. Prior to that possession and turnover Denim Deshields dribbled around out top then drove under the basket and back around toward the free throw line and put up a 12 footer no good. Why do I point those plays out? Because in the last 2:26 Jerkaila Jordan touched the ball 1 time for 3 seconds and never had it in her hands again. Selfish play by Russell and Deshields. Oh by the way, Okot, who score 22 and grabbed 23 rebounds Thursday night, scored 2 and grabbed 5 boards while fouling out today. Destiny McPhaul who has won 2 games for us, hardly plays any more. Powe, who was a 4 star in high school and shoots 40% from 3, scored 2 triples but got no shot in the final 2 minutes because of the mad dribblers pretending to be Curly Neal. Howdy cannot control his players when the game is on the line. Too many want to be the hero instead of understanding their role and that this is Jerkaila's team! Clowns to the left of her, Jokers to the right!

Okot was questionable for the Vandy game due to illness - I wonder if it might have caught up with her today. I thought the coaches were on to something playing Okot and Montegue against Vandy and giving them fits. Did not see that combination today.

Jerkaila hurt her knee at Vandy and seemed to have aggrevated it again in the 4th quarter.

Bad loss at Florida. NCAA chances just about done now.
Not making excuses for the overall play, but am I the only one who thought we got screwed on our last possession...that the UF gal clearly fouled our girl as she was going up for the shot? Hell, she grabbed her arm before she ever got her hand on the ball to block it.

As poorly as we played at times, that right there probably changes the outcome of the game.

here is what blows my mind-our two bigs rebound alot of our misses. but when you have 27 turnovers they can't rebound. Let's say we just have 13 turnovers--then that is 13 more shots--we might make 30% of them and probably rebound 30% of the misses. we would win by double digits. We need a real PG. The fact that Powe doesn't shoot twice as much as she does is really bad Coaching.

It's hard to make excuses for Purcell anymore. We are going to miss the tourney two straight years with two talented, but undisciplined teams.

The turnovers this season are a direct indictment of the coaching. Vic would simply not accept it, but then he always made sure he had a competent PG.

I don't know why, but DeShields has been a disaster. Reading about her at UAB, I thought it was a great addition, but her assist to TO ratio is terrible.

I feel bad for Jerkaila and Powe. They've had to adjust to tons of new players two years in a row and are going to have basically nothing to show for it.
