Maryland plays at Nebraska this Saturday. The winner becomes bowl eligible. If Maryland loses they face Michigan the following week. That may be a desperate squad visiting Rutgers at the end of the regular season.

Mike - the way I look at it, if they lose to Nebraska, they will come into RU on a 6 game losing streak. They may want to be bowl eligible, but they will be in a bad place mentally. I'm not sure they'd be able to recover. They really screwed up by losing their home game to Illinois. That was supposed to be a gimme.

That said, I want them to beat Nebraska on Saturday. It puts Nebraska in a tough spot bowl wise, and as you say, takes away any wounded animal mentality UMD might have against RU.

If they win v. Nebraska, I would like the opportunity to beat them and keep them in the Pinstripe bowl instead of us.
I hope you are right but I think the Pinstripe will select us even if we beat them and get to 7 wins. Beating Iowa and / or PSU as well as Maryland may save us from the Pinstripe based upon the selection process.

personally, I think Pinstripe is going to pick RU if we're available regardless of record...so only chance is to get chosen by one of the others prior to pinstripe selection.

Agree. I don't mind the Pinstripe as I would be able to attend, but I understand others wanting to travel. It would be cool to be in something like the Music City Bowl, which I always thought had great match-ups worth watching, whether I can be there in person or not.

To me, and maybe this is selfish, but i think of these bowl games as much more than the game itself (whether thats close by or a plane trip away). It's the full experience. One could argue it's all about the players and their experience, but in todays age when there's 1000 bowls and its all about the $$$, i think the pinstripe fails to incorporate the fans. I remember in birmingham when there were all these festivities the day or so before, there were fan activities outside the stadium the day of. In JAX, there was a nice rally the day before the game. At the sugarbowl (not for RU haha) there were tons of fan activities in the day(s) leading up.
Maybe I'm wrong, but the pinstripe bowl does Zero for the fan experience and relies on people just coming to nyc to do random tourist stuff not affiliated with the game. Then all the other stuff everyone talks about in-game is just icing on the cake for me.
and hopefully, vegas/nashville wouldnt fall into same issue as pinstripe in that regard!

That’s completely fair. I was in Birmingham and it was fun, although the stadium was a bizarre relic but cool in a way.

That stadium was the worst I’ve ever been in. Part of the stadium had collapsed. Lol

The Alabama BBQ was terrific however, as was the outcome of the game
