Well, Coleman went for 15 and 9 in his first game for Ok State. Typical Coleman game: 6/14, 1/5, 2/4; 2 assts, 1 steal. Second leading scorer. I watched parts of the 1st half. He was everywhere on the court making plays with tremendous energy. Announcers couldn’t stop praising his effort. He looked bulked up. But I guess spending money on three or four questionable guys versus one of our own makes sense to somebody.

I'm glad Shaheen laughed in his face... 🤦🏼‍♂️

Also remember everyone on here saying he wasn't worth more than 500k, maybe our board advises Sha 😂

He asked for $1.5M and he deserved to be laughed at. He was not coming back and 6-3 2 guards are rarely worth that kind of money, If ever.

People tend the evaluate freshman and sophomores as if they won’t get better, and as if the talent pool won’t get worse due to graduation. A sophomore like Coleman - who put up his numbers in a major conference with literally zero help - was basically a lock to be good as a junior.

I was fine letting him go due to his me-first chucking down the stretch last season, but he was worth every penny of $1.5 million (the number I used last January). Just another example of our staff DESPERATELY needing a GM to help with this stuff. My God.

BTW, he shot 43% from the field. 20% from the arc on 5 shots, And 50% from the line on 4 shots. Throw in 3 turnovers and he had a decent offensive game at best.

Not a chance in hell he was or is worth $1.5M. He eventually settled for $1.1M. but was never signing here for that money.

He’s a million dollar player. I’d rather have Coleman than Fisher/Parker/Williams combined. Imagine him in Sha’s system for year 3. He’d easily be a top 10 player in the big east. Easily.

Not a former player but Nyk Lewis is off to a great start with VCU. I thought we would’ve landed him after he recommitted from Xavier.

His offensive efficiency today was 0.88.

I had him worth $750K but seriously misread the market. He asked for $1.5 million and got $1.2 million. Would that be worth it for Seton Hall? Only in hindsight and if he actually wanted to stay, BTW.

Told Holloway to give me an offer. Holloway did and he accepted it.

Then did what so many players have done in this play for pay era. Shopped it around and got a better offer. Then has the audacity to go back to Sha and asked him to match it.

You can predict what Holloway told him.

That’s it right there ….. if he actually wanted to stay. I’m inclined to think that he didn’t.

“Sha’s System” lol, I love how people think every coach has some magical system that players can’t get elsewhere.

It’s the most overused phrase throughout sports today. Especially football

OK State plays TAMU Sunday I think of espn2 imagine Coleman will play then...let's see what coach Bucky formerly of Samford can scheme defensively
Didn't he score 28 in a pre-season game or scrimmage against Auburn?

He didn't play the first game apparently because of a violation of team rules.

For those interested, Oklahoma State plays Texas A&M on Sunday at 2 PM ET on ESPN2.

Isaiah Coleman is expected to play after sitting out OSU's season opener due to a violation of team rules -- presumably related to his off-season arrest.
What? What did the arrest involve?

When he goes for 25 plus against Iowa state on 50 percent from the field come and speak then

Respectfully disagree Dan. Anyone watching the portal last year saw that a 15 point scorer in a major conference was going to get paid. The Athletic reported $1.2-1.5 million for a Power Hoops conference starter. Maybe that’s ridiculous and maybe he was already checked out. But the amount he was asking for was not unreasonable in the NIL world last April.

Yes, I reported those stats. But if you saw the game he was very impactful. He had 11 points in the first half that got Ok State rolling. The nine rebounds shows the effort. He was flying around the court. Do you disagree that he would be the best perimeter player on out team this year?

This is the point I believe some posters are missing. He was a soph last year. He’s going into his junior year. Only going to improve. And being with Sha for his third year would have been very beneficial to this year’s team.

Why I treat the stuff out there on NIL with somewhat of a grain of salt. Someone hears $1.1, someone hears $1.2, he supposedly asks for $1.5. Who knows except we didn’t get him and I agree he likely didn’t want to be here, which says something about his belief on Sha’s ability to get him better (even if the highest offer was going to win the day).

Probably not. I don't question his talent. But I do question a 6-3 2G getting $1.5M from SHU.

I agree 100% with Sha on this one.

What did Clark get? It must be at least a mil, no? After being successful at Merrimack which was D2 a few years ago

Dre Davis played his first g league game two days ago. 8 minutes off the bench for Nets affiliate

Kadary was on the other team, the wizards affiliate. He started and had a busy line

KR also got in one nba preseason game https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401812713
Kadary would be better served to go to europe...of he ever got a consistent form on J he can have a long career

Of course. But that’s not the point. A number of posters said flat out said they didn’t want him back. Others said he wasn’t worth the price without any reference to what the going rate was for a guy with his talent and stats and only being a sophomore.
A total one way player if offense struggles for him, a complete 0 on the court

Not sure his height is a factor here, the point is he was a rare freshman recruit who became a big time talent here, stayed for his second year which was a total circus, and could have been all big east second team this year. Besides, he played the 3, was listed as 6'5 all year, which is taller than any of the guard we brought in aside from Staton-McCray, of which they are probably the same height. Are you aware of any 6'6 2guards that have all Big East talent that want to transfer to SHU that you'd take instead of Coleman? I don't either. So again, not sure his height is relevant. But if he was already checked out and didn't want to be here, I could totally understand that based on how last season went. Good for him getting paid. He doesn't owe anybody anything unless he's getting paid to provide it. That's the NIL era for better or for worse.

I agree with Dan on Coleman. He is 100% correct. Guys at that height are a dime a dozen. Just look at the 2 games we played and the talent on the other teams. There were kids (some Div2 and JUCO) that could easily replace Coleman for a hell of lot less money. In fact some of the kids I just saw were better!

Height matters in the sense of availability. The two most expensive positions in college BB are bigs (C-PF) and points. In the case of the bigs, that's obvious. Size matters. In the case of points, size doesn't matter as much. Ability is the key.

In the case of Coleman...no one is saying he's not talented. But there are many, many 6-3 guards in his category, and thus their price is lower.

And the reason I say he's 6-3 instead of his listed 6-5 at Seton Hall was because when he was arrested this summer his mug shot listed him at 6-3.
