Close game at half time. The wheels came off the opening three minutes of the second half. Ledford has a good team but I think the opening three minutes of the second half was too much for East to overcome. I really like the coach that East has but one thing that baffles me is when you are chasing three scores, why do you continue to run the ball. It was like the offense was so predictable watching the game. When you play teams such as Ledford you have to mix up the run and the pass, just my opinion. My hats off to Ledford though, they have a very good team and their kicker Braswell is lights out. He was hitting from 52 yards out during pre game warm ups. I believe he hit from 43 and 37 during the game. Great job by the Golden Eagles this season. They have had a great season this year going 6-5 in what I think is going to be a tough Central Carolina Conference for years to come. Hopefully the Eagles will get a state playoff bid. I am proud of Coach Hines and the job he has done with those kids this year and proud to be a Golden Eagle.
Ledford 41 - East Davidson 10

I was at the game and was impressed with how East came out and played for most of the first half, they had the lead for a while and looked as if they could upset Ledford. I thought the Ledford TD just before the half was big for momentum and confidence. It seemed like East kind of lost their confidence after that and run out of gas the 2nd half. I believe for East to take their program to the next level they need to really develop their passing game their play calling won't be so predictable. It would also help to at least have a running QB to alternate in to give defenses something extra to defend. I thought losing their senior QB at start of the season really hurt their offense. With all that said, I think the new coach Hines has done a great job overall and all the players seem to really like him. I'll admit the play calling is suspect sometime when they are down by two scores. The bad thing about their offense is that it isn't really built to come back when they are down by 2 or more scores. They are more of a grind out the clock and control the clock offense. Hope they make the playoffs too but I'm afraid if they do they will just draw a highly seeded team and play on the road with not much of a chance to win. Good luck to them the rest of the way and going into next season.
No defense in the JV gameThe East JV lost in a shootout to the Ledford JV 52-42 but could've easily won. (My son starts WR for the East JV). They had 3 lost fumbles. Neither team was really stopping the other. East has a really good freshman RB who will be the starter on varsity next year. He had over 300 yards rushing, 4 TDs including a 92 yard TD run and an 80 yard kickoff return for a TD.
The JV record I think is 5-5 with their last game being at home against Oak Grove this coming week. They lost a couple games that that could've easily been won with some better play calling. Their offense is pretty good and consistently puts up points, nobody really shut them out except ND. The problem is defense. What I don't understand is why they don't put their best players on defense. If they would, they would probably have won a couple of more games. But it is just JV so maybe the coaches are just giving some of the players game experience to help prepare them for varsity. If it was up to me I would put all the best in on defense and then rotate players in on offense. The East varsity will be really young next year as I think they will only have like 12-13 seniors. Our starting JV QB got moved up to varsity after the first game because the varsity QB tore his ACL. Also, the starting JV running back (also plays slot WR) moved up too after like 2nd or 3rd game because of lack of depth on varsity.
