Dang, that was a close call. I still shudder when I think of driving on Hwy 11 near Eutaw, Alabama before 20/59 opened - very long narrow 2 lane bridge with a big sweeping curve. Meeting an 18-wheeler was fun - seemed like about a foot clearance on each side. Back in the day, you'd frequently see signs that had "Narrow Bridge" on them. Never figured out why the bridge was narrower than the roadway. On my way to West Point today to watch my Granddaughter play basketball and I meet this car on the Tombigbee river two lane bridge on highway 50 who I assume was playing on this phone. They drifted across the center line and were 50 percent in my lane. I hit the horn and the brakes and tried to make it between the oncoming car and the side railing on the bridge. It was very close on both sides but didn’t hit anything and didn’t wind up in the river. The oncoming car never made any effort to correct their position on the road and I’m not sure they were ever aware of the situation. Or didn’t care. I’ve seen a lot of stupid driving in the last few days and it’s not going to get better until the holIdays are over. Thankful that I didn’t get killed today! Everyone keep your head on a swivel and stay safe.
