That seems a little excessive. Seems like there are good and bad officers everywhere. But I’m curious what the suspect may have done leading up to this.
If he had murdered someone before this video would the police officers reaction be ok?
If he had assaulted someone before this video would the police officers reaction be ok?
If he had stolen something before this video would the police officers reaction be ok?
It looks bad but I also don’t know the situation.

He had recently gotten full custody of his 2 year old. A judge had ordered the cop to help enforce that.

The cop said he wouldn't back up when told so that was his response. He knocked him out with the first punch (he had the mace in his fist). Then they got him no medical care as he was clearly knocked out cold, didn't follow protocol for someone knocked out (trying to sit him up rather than in the recovery position).

It looks bad because it is bad.

So the guy got full custody and the police were there to make sure everything went fine and the cop knocked out the guy he was supposed to be helping?
sounds like this guy will be receiving a nice pay check to help raise his child with.

Anyone want to bet there is more the the story than the 2 seconds prior to him striking him?

Im going to let you in on a little secret, if there wasnt more to the story the lady who said "that wasnt necessary" would have been losing her mind.

There is more to the story, and unfortunately it makes the cop look worse.

Sometimes cops, like some people in literally ever profession, are just wrong or bad people etc. Unfortunately, cops have a lot of power and use instruments and violence as a matter of course (meaning a lot of it is actually justified), and so the consequences of a bad apple are much more severe.
