  1. Mother17er please
  2. Steve Spurrier (remember he did win titles with UF too)
  3. Les Miles
  4. Mark Richt
  5. Kevin Sumlin
  6. Will Muschamp
  7. James Franklin
  8. Bret Bielema
  9. Dan Mullen
  10. Gus Malzahn
  11. Gary Pinkel
  12. Hugh Freeze
  13. Butch Jones
  14. Mark Stoops

Tough to call after Franklin. Mullen could easily slip to #13ish very soon. That's how competitive the SEC is. Mullen has huge games next year vs OSU, Auburn, Arkansas and Ole Miss. Those 4 games will tell us a lot on how our coach ranks in the SEC I think.

Switch Muschamp and Franklin, and put Freeze above Malzahn and its about right at least in my mind. If the trend of this year continues, I would drop Mullen even more.

I'd swap Muschamp with Sumlin instead of Franklin. Muschamp had a better season with less talent than Sumlin did this year. Agree that you've got to move Freeze up to at least #10. Not sure what to do with Pinkel. He's had a good career at Missouri, but was terrible this year. I guess he's where he belongs.

I thought Pinkel got fired? Freeze must really be bad if he came in behind a guy that got fired.

I think you should move Freeze ahead of Mullen.

He thumped him head to head. Plus, his first season resulted in a bowl game; Mullen's didn't.

So Freeze gets credit for Auburn/Arkansas being 'down' but Mullen doesn't? Freeze's 6 wins was a success when Mullen's 8 wins wasn't? That's silliness. Let's see Freeze do this after the newness wears off. I suspect his next few years will look alot like Mullen's, with fans get impatient way too quickly. They even did it this year. Vanderbilt anyone?

come on railin, you're more objective than that. first you can't say...wait for 3-4 yrs then do the list. the list is based on current info. i have no problem with freeze being in the bottom half after franklin. beleima has a good history with wisc, so ok, but malzhan has NO history as a HC. he may be the second coming of st nick but right now the only place for him is in the last group with stoops as the first timers. and lastly no non-msu person could possibly rank him behind mullen right now. he took a 2 win team predicted by everybody to be last in the league...won 6 games and head to head absolutely humiliated mullen. putting mullen ahead right now is ridiculous. now you may be right...in 3-4 yrs mullen may prove this yr was an aberration and freeze may fall flat, but right now its no contest.

ETA it has nothing to do with giving credit for aub/ark or not. its the record and how their respective teams performed.

5a/5b/5c. franklin/muschamp/sumlin
8. bielema
9. mullen
10. freeze
11/12. pinkel/jones
13/14. malzahn/stoops

freeze didn't really beat anyone big this year, and definitely benefited from a down year for arkansas and auburn. he needs to prove he's more than i 1 year wonder to move ahead of mullen imo. malzahn and stoops are complete unknowns not just as SEC HCs but as HCs period, therefore they go to the bottom until proven otherwise. pinkel and jones have proven to be capable HCs in other conferences, but pinkel struggled last year in the SEC and jones is a SEC newbie, so until proven otherwise, they sit just ahead of the new HCs without HC experience.
