They happened at basically the same time, within a year, so I doubt that's the reason. However I don't mind the turf really, and it's the press box which is the worst part of the stadium, no question.

question for the bear lurkers......what is the capacity of the current NORTH endzone that has the temporary bleachers? i ask because it is a pretty large section and if you bowl it off like this. You wont be adding many seats at all because the current bleachers are pretty large as far as temporary seating goes. in the pic above, you would just be adding seating enough to close up the open areas, which isnt that large of a space. as you already know, because of the of location of those newly built academic support buildings, you would not be able to advance the stadium taller without the removal of a building or two. for the endzones to be symmetrical, you would be required to demolish newly built buildings. anywho, im curious what the current capacity is on the north endzone because it looks far more substantial than the one we had.

Not sure about capacity of the NEZ metal bleachers. Based on what I've heard, the SEZ work after this season, the 2/3 of the way up bowl in of the NEZ after the 2015 season, and the west side press box/suites improvements/renovation after the 2015 season will bring VHS capacity to the 63-64k range. The NEZ partial bowl in will be a few rows higher than the metal bleachers that are there now as well as filling in the corners.

Including suites and the dark grey seats below and you get to 10k? Hell, I think our East side upper deck only holds 7k.

Then

You have a UM Revit model of their stadium?

Nothing official has been announced on any specific plans. That was my point... Red57 was claiming they were going to add 10,000 seats and nothing official has been announced besides saying there are future plans to renovate.

There are always plans to renovate. Whenever Strickland gets it together and desides to hire me to design a new south endzone seating/ locker room facility to replace the M Club we will start on it. See now we have future expansion plans just as valid as our little brothers to the north.

I would go a bit further and say that ANY school significantly adding capacity is borderline stupid. The attendance bubble has peaked and is heading downwards. In 10 years, we're going to be seeing a LOT of empty seats in every football stadium.

That sounds about right to me. I expect you'll wind up at about 64,000. Which is plenty. Really not sure why you'd bother with bowling in the north end zone at all if you're not going to add any premium seats other than to top us in capacity.

Their stadium already looks like somebody ran out of leggo pices and made do. None of the additions match. There is simply no cohesion.

That stadium is a dump. I was there two years ago when we played them. The sound system is terrible, the bathrooms were a joke, the concession stands were undermanned and the hallways and corridors smelled like puke.

It's another example of Ole Miss people thinking that their facilities are superior to everyone else's, mainly because they haven't been anywhere else-- low exposure. They are delusional people. The borders of their map end at Oxford to the north and Destin to the South.

They brag about that indoor practice facility that can't hold a candle to our football facilities. The only difference between the Grove and the Junction is a few more trees.

I wouldn't classify VH a "dump.." Because truth be told, prior to last year, it was nicer than DWS. I will agree that it's not close to being as nice or as cohesive as most of their fans think tend to think.

And I know plenty of state, bama, auburn, and lsu fans whose maps begin and end at Their respective schools, too, so that's not just an "OM thing." But I do know what you are talking about. A state fan once told me he thought tiger stadium in BR was a dump, but come to find out, he'd never even been. If you haven't seen the facilities for yourself (I'm talking about stadiums), you have zero credibility to compare your schools to anyone else's, IMO.

That's harsh, dotcomdawg. OUR STADIUM IS MORE AESTHETICALLY PLEASING THAN YOUR STADIUM!

/Bear-controlled media

Big shout-out to some guy named Steven Godfrey for voting us third, although to be fair, only 1 of the 12 experts said yours is prettier than ours (the Aggie guy, go figure). I think y'all have a good shot at closing the gap some with all the renovations though, so keep your heads up.

I think the gap has been reversed.

I'm laughing at Godfrey's vote. Not a fan he says. In his defense, he did give the only single digit vote for State.

You may be right, but I guess we'll have to wait until the next time unbiased stadium experts issue rankings to know for sure.

Yes the bathrooms are a joke but I remember going to MSU's stadium in 2003, 2005, and 2009 only to find dirt-covered mud floors underneath the stadium on the ground level along with what looked like cobweb filled rotting concrete columns. Now, granted, those issues have now been fixed. I hope.

Tell your uncle we said hello.

Dirt-covered mud floors? Sounds like a safety issue. Glad I never found those.

And rotting concrete? Maybe someone should make a building material that doesn't rot... Oh wait, that's what concrete is.

Can we just stop poking at one another about the stadiums? They're both bad. Glad most of the issues with ours have been taken care of recently.

This is the real 87, no nephew today and if you were at the egg bowl those years on the West side of the stadium in sections 6 and 7 then you definitely couldn't miss it because it was raining and there was mud and dirt all over the place on the lower level. And yes our stadium is more obsolete then your's after the upgrades. Your stadium looks great and is very modern. Ours isn't anymore. And FYI concrete actually does rot.http://www.dundee-memorialpark.org/ohm/index.php?cat=Concrete&art=Damage Prevention.txt

I think you're going to see a lot of seating converted into premium seating to address this issue where it's possible. There will be lots more chair backs at the very least. Not sure what you can do with existing seats otherwise, but as the TV experience gets better, it's going to be harder to get people to come sit in the heat and cold, on a cramped, uncomfortable seat. Have to figure out a way to up the game experience in the stadium, either by making it more comfortable or offering experience you can't get at home, beyond simply the experience of seeing it live surrounded by other fans.

What in the 17 are you talking about I mean I guess your stadium will be better once they add the baptismal pools to the SEZ.

We don't have dirt covered mud floors and concrete doesn't rot. Lets agree to disagree.

I will concede that pavement sometimes gets dirty and concrete can crack, spall, or have alkali-silica reactions and exposes rebar can corrode.

I'm going to take a timeout for a while because I'm mad at myself for even getting involved with this thread.

Well if Tim Brando, Steven Godfrey, and the other "stadium experts" say that VH is nicer then it must be true!!!***

Seriously, how can any of these people's opinions be taken seriously when none of them have seen in person what DWS will look like in 2014? I saw games at both stadiums last year- and DWS will be much nicer than VHS this season with the renovation finished. It's really not even debatable.

ETA: And just to show you how up to date these "experts" are, in the bio of DWS, they talk about how the North end of the stadium will be sealed off and a high-definition video board will soon be installed." Yeah, you know that big *** video board we put in FIVE YEARS AGO? That's the one they are saying will "soon be installed." And you actually expect anyone to take this list seriously?

i agree on their stadium not being very good (and now next to last just in front of vandy), but their "ipf" is pretty nice. with our palmeiro center and new leo seal complex, we are certainly the nicer practice facility, but that ipf blows the palmeiro center by itself out of the water. again, our practice facilities far outpace theirs, but when you specifically talk about indoor practice, theirs is up there in the league. additionally, they have been going through a major renovation and addition to their ipf. its got a premium eating space (why freeze is getting fat presumably....as he eats there all the time), weight room, and offices. part of their ipf and living space look stuck in the 90's with more player fatheads slapped on the walls than one could possibly imagine and things are certainly dated by sec standards, but the facility has good bones and a great indoor practice space.

they will argue pc vs ipf, but the reality is that we rarely use the pc and the leo jr complex is one of the best in the nation. not even my words...the words of matt millen and a few other cfb "experts" that have seen the facility in person. and yes, millen is a douchebag.

Your and idiot...

Have you any rankings from unbiased stadium experts placing DWS ahead of VHS?

Seriously, how could we, our stadium's expansion isn't even finished yet...

I am sure we will find many an expert that ranks DWS above VH after this season, when they can actually go and see our finished product for themselves...

Get a grip...

I find it hard to believe a fine publication like Athlon's would call them "experts" in the absence of compelling qualifications and intimate familiarity with all 14 stadiums. No, it sounds like you're just unhappy with the way the vote turned out, so now you want to attack the voters and the process. So sad, these days everyone wants to challenge unbiased election results with crazy allegations of voter fraud and conspiracies and such.

I believe LSU's and A&M's have also been under renovation, but they were voted #1 & 2, respectively. Perhaps LSU & A&M showed the stadium experts drawings of what the stadiums will look like when completed, and maybe y'all just didn't have any pictures handy?

godfrey's vote REALLY exposes his allegiances.

how he voted:

1)sanford stadium
2)tiger stadium
3)vaught hemmingway
4)neyland stadium
5)kyle field
6)jordan hare
7)bryant denny
8)the swamp (ben hill griffin)
9)davis wade
10)reynolds razorback stadium
11)faurot field
12)commonwealth stadium
13)vanderbilt stadium
14)williams brice

its all subjective, but i would really like to hear the justification for that. isnt there a godfrey symbol we can throw up in the sky to get the reasoning behind this? maybe his assistant voted for him (spurrier style).

I'm "attacking the voters and the process" because they are clearly uneducated- hence the "MSU is about to build a video board on the north side of their stadium" when that happened FIVE YEARS AGO. With that one statement, these "experts" have made it painfully obvious that they have absolutely no clue what they are talking about- at least when it comes to DWS.

They probably still think DWS looks like this:

When it really is going to look like this in about three weeks:
