that were to happen (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) it would be Collins as our next HC and well desereved.
Personally, I would want a person with a history of QB development. At MSU, you can recruit defense, running backs, and enough o-linemen. What you can't recruit is QBs, and, as we see with Dak, that makes all the difference. I would want MSU to hire someone with a track record of developing QBs. This should certainly be one thing that we've learned from the Mullen era.
That being said, I don't think Mullen will or should leave. Ole Miss fans and MSU fans can go back and forth hoping that each other's coach will leave, but that is a very "non big picture view"
The truth is that MSU and Ole Miss should both hope that each other's coach stays and builds something in Mississippi, and makes the point that this is a new era of college football. It is no longer an era that basis current success on how big your stadium is, how many games you won in 1972, or how much money your alumni base possesses. They could make a point that this is a new era where running your business correctly, and making smart hiring choices wins the day.
The other truth is that MSU and Ole Miss push each other, and are both better because of each other. You want to know why nor MSU or Ole Miss has had a let down this year? The answer is because the other team keeps winning and puts the pressure on the opposing school.
Hopefully, Mullen and Freeze will stand for something bigger that leaving outstanding situations and athletic departments at their current schools, and no be sellouts. MSU and Ole Miss can both be successful in the modern football era, and they can both push each other to unforeseen heights.
After these last three weeks, I finally understand how Auburn and Alabama are always so good. It's because they push each other, and always put the pressure on the other to perform. Under these circumstances, motivation and drive is no longer a problem.
MSU and Ole Miss have both show what is possible over the past three weeks, and I see no reason why they can't continue. Hopefully their coaches have enough pride, and competitiveness to stay here and continue to build. I think they will
