This what ya get when they had the chance to get Lateef in earlier in the season for a few series and did not do so. it gives Lateef great experience, it gives the OC a chance to learn the better play calling to maximize his strengths and it makes DR a little more introspective.

This loss is at the feet of MR and DH. Read option would have destroyed USC's defense tonight with Lateef and EJ running the USC defense silly and then once they commit everyone up in the box Lateef would have hit them with a deep ball.

We all know Usc has the better talent, they usually haul in top ten classes just about every year. When Nebraska gets that kind of talent year in and out, they start to win some of these close ones. The effort was there, just not enough talent.
Always with the talent. What is Indianas excuse for winning so many games?

First of all, we did not get blown out on national TV and in front of 50 good recruits. So that is a win. Second, I thought for the most part our O line played much better overall. I have not seen the PFF grades yet but the eye test tells me even though we are banged up, this unit came together and became at least average. That is a win. Having to finish the game with a QB that had hardly played any snaps this year, not a win. We shut down their QB, and had we been able to set an edge I think we could have eliminated their big run plays to the outside. Overall, if there is something called a good loss, this probably was it.

At the Half, USC made adjustments. We did not. When USC starting playing more guys close to the line of scrimmage, we could have thrown over the top. Can Dylan throw a long pass? He constantly floats the ball, giving the other team's DB more time to adjust. Why has this not been corrected? Do the coaches not see this issue? Or is Dylan not coachable? Our biggest mistake was not RUNNING THE DAMN BALL after the interception. The run was there ALL NIGHT. Dana just cannot seem to get it through his head that when the run works, use it until it does not work.

As per usual, the offense (with or without DR) went dormant for a couple quarters, or shall I say, the Husker norm. They still come out of the locker room with zero answers offensively.

Lateef completes 5 passes for 7 yards? All this staff does is baby the QB's, as if either one of them is even in the top tier of QB's in the BIG. Keep playing this game so close to the vest and you're just asking to get beat against comparable competition.

Yeah, the Huskers have injuries on the OLine, well, USC was missing 3 starters and they ran through NU like butter. It's 50/50 NU doesn't win another regular season game.

USC has been lousy in BIG road games, NU has been lousy against ranked teams. Something had to give.

Niko is gonna be a real issue running the ball against the defense. Oh well, at least we will have our excuses already built in.

All we needed was a dual threat QB, I've seen it posted over and over on this board....🤣
I personally believe that. It is difficult to win with a one dimensional QB these days. I suppose you are suggesting that the appearance of a dual threat last night indicates it won’t work? Wow

It was a pathetic long developing play to begin with.

Up 14-6, had chances to put the game away. Maybe we should give him another extension
Our WRs are so slow to develop. It sucked our wr ran into a backer that play and fell down.

I thought our OL played surprisingly well. Im still baffled at Holgo and how his route tree is so slow to develop. Hes our weak link of coaches.

I mean keep in mind lateef fumbled on his first carry when the defender coughed on him.

the reality is we win the game if Dylan doesn’t get hurt and we overcome our head coach and oc.

Adequate coaching wins us the game even after he gets hurt.

this above.. if DR doesn't get hurt, we have a good shot of coming back and winning

but do we really trust our field goal kicker? I still think we got some issues that need work in the off season on special teams.

LaTeef had some nice plays, but wasn't prepared for being thrown into the fire. That kid has a bright future though.

We shouldn't even play the game. Loser mindset like you have is what has held our program back for the last 10 years.

Losing to weak teams is ok with you. Our recruiting classes have been way better than Indiana but they would kick our *** and then you would be claiming it was because of another reason .....smh

You're a bit fVcked up in the head. And if you didn't notice, Indiana isn't a weak team,
and did kick Nebraska's doors in last year. Coaching goes a long way in winning as well, that needs to get better along with the talent.

I'm sure Illinois was saying the same thing. WTF are you talking about?
Do you think Nebraska has better talent than USC? Maybe the coaching last night was all to blame. I'm suggesting that better talent can help win some of these games, along with coaching. Not hard to figure out.

He.miissed one made one

It was dumb to.kick a 52 yard field goal.

You have to go for it right there.

Crazy to not go for it. We also need a kicker that you can rely from 40+. Everyone in the stadium except probably Rhule knew we were missing that kick.

Our kicker is bad, but I also trust Ekeler to get it fixed next year.

There were at least 3 deeper passes called for Lateef where he pulled the ball down and ran. We still had d chance to win it late. Then EJ trips on a 4th down where it looked to me we had good enough line surge to pick up the first. I’m really not disheartened by this loss. I expected USC’s lines to destroy us and I expected us to give up a ton of rushing yards to their QB.

Just think....... If these same exact guys played for Iowa, they'd be tough, smart, and physical football players.

What? This is the strangest analysis I have seen of a Husker game. This team had opportunities with Lateef. I don't understand why the coaching staff didn't trust him enough to win the game.
This is it. Go win the game. Wtf could possibly happen he misses a throw or makes a mistake and we lose? Give him a chance instead of going into conservative mode. Throw the 50/50 balld downfield and get some interference calls.
Lateef should start
Lots of idiots on this site.

Exactly what did you want them to do with Lateef? They dropped him back and at least 3 times he pulled the ball down and ran it. I would have maybe tried to run more read option but they called some. Their edge guys and backers were very good and almost all of Dylan’s completions were contested catches. They just have a better front 7 than we do. They won. We played better than I thought we might but we missed a field goal and Dylan’s fumble and injury were huge factors. Flush it and get ready for the next game. Hopefully Dylan can go cuz Lateef ain’t ready.
Call it some more then? He got positive yards each time he ran it.

Dana babies the quarterbacks too much. Pisses me off. Didn't even give Lateef a chance to go out and win the game. Or he could have made some mistakes and lost it. Oh well, at least we would know what we have, and we lost the game anyway. I don't even know if TJ is any good or not or how he reacts to pressure because the coaches didn't even give him a chance.
