Read a story Lou Holtz is in Hospice care. Legendary coach
I like him. My wife is a Notre Dame grad. Class of 88 or 89 (I forget). She was there for his national championship in her senior year. She has a picture of herself with him on campus hanging in our living room. Backstory: she and a study friend were just walking across campus one day very, very early in the morning and not many people at all were around. And there walking toward them was Lou Holtz. He stopped and chatted them up for about 15 minutes. Wanted to know what they were studying, where they were from, what they wanted to do with their lives. My wife was impressed by how genuine and humble he was. She just happened to have one of those old fashioned Kodak cameras in her purse left over from the day before when her parents were visiting. So she got the picture.
I know there are a few horror stories about him out there but I don't care. I love him. Loved watching him coach and speak. He was pretty great as a commentator to, or at least i thought so. Legendary stories he'd tell.
He certainly exceeded expectations, despite having a massive speech impediment

Your wife must have graduated in 88. ND beat WV for the national championship in the Fiesta Bowl. Barry Alvarez was the DC for ND.I like him. My wife is a Notre Dame grad. He has his flaws. But I think he is a really decent guy
