LSU vs Ole Miss will decide if we are Chick-Fil-A Bound...?

Here's my reasoning...

Based on top SEC teams --- even with the cluster mess there is now with Bama losing, it is still highly likely 2 teams get in the BCS bowl scenario.

After this, you have Capital One, Cotton, Outback and Gator.

The bowls above would fill top 6 SEC spots -- meaning...
Bama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M

There is no way we can jump any of these teams. And the Chick-Fil-A Bowl is next in line. (b/c Chick pays less than Gator and Outback) Only team that could potentially steal that bowl from us is Ole Miss IF they beat LSU and beat us.

If LSU beats Ole Miss, Ole Miss can only reach 6-6 at best. Leaving us a near lock for Chick-Fil-A.

So as it stands now, if LSU beats Ole Miss next weekend, book your rooms for Atlanta.

Am I off with this reasoning? Thoughts?

I am pretty sure that the Chik Fi la has priority over the Gator and Outback

Even if they do, we are a lock for Chick-Fil-A, Gator or Outback. Nothing worse. Unless Ole Miss wins out. Then, we'd be doomed for Nashville with Ole Miss taking our spot. So an LSU win next week secures us a spot in one of those three bowls regardless of our final two games (win or loss).

Y'all have bowl picks all wrong. It has almost nothing to do with how teams finish in the SEC standings. It's all about who the bowl people think is a better draw for ratings, ticket sales, and economic impact to the host city.

I think there is some rule about not snubbing a team with x amount of wins or losses. But generally, the bowls have a pecking order and they take whoever the hell they want.

You're off on the order. The Peach gets to pick before the Gator. Texas A&M practically locked up the Cotton Bowl today, so the Outback will have the option of South Carolina or LSU, and the Peach will likely take the other. I can't decide if it would help us if Clemson beat South Carolina, and honestly, no one ever knows what the nut that runs the Outback Bowl will do.
And yes, they can do some horse-trading to get who they want.

However, the order, there is no way we fall below those three bowls anyway. Unless Ole Miss wins out. That's my whole reasoning. If LSU wins next week, we can take Nashville and below off our worries.

Something to keep in mind, South Carolina has played in Atlanta an awful lot over the past few years. Due to that, as crazy as it sounds, if we win our next two, I wouldn't be surprised if the Chik bowl takes us over them. Just a thought.

Here's the order

I see the top 6 going something like this.

#1 Sugar: Alabama (SEC Champions)
BCS at-large: Florida
#2 Cap One: Georgia
#3/4 Outback: South Carolina
#3/4 Cotton: Texas A&M
#5 Peach: LSU
#6 Gator:
#7 Music City:
#8 Liberty:

We are at 7-3 and Vandy is at 6-4. mississippi and Mizzou are at 5-5. If we win next week, we basically lock up the #7 slot in the SEC. mississippi (@LSU) and Mizzou (@A&M) have tough road games and will likely go 6-6 at best. We're at the bottom of the SEC food chain, but we're still ahead of Vandy, even if we finish with the same record.

A win next week for us + mississippi loss @ LSU should put us in the Gator Bowl.

I don't want us to go the Peach. We'd likely play Clemson or FSU, and be heavy underdogs to both.

We will draw a much larger crowd in Atlanta than Jacksonville or Tampa...

I'm hoping for a trip to the Peach...I think we have a shot if we win out and Florida loses to FSU, which I think they will. The Florida bowls love South Carolina and Florida.

I think if we win 1 of the next 2...

..it will put us as a lock for the Gator Bowl. Win the next 2, & still a lock for the Gator Bowl. Lose the next 2 & that's when things get interesting.
