Last week brought some separation and was an overall good week for the conference. This week has more interesting games and some possible blowouts. On to the predictions...
Brevard @ Asheville- After playing one of the best 3A teams in the state last week, Asheville should have an easier time this week with Brevard. Asheville has been doing well on defense but struggling some on offense, getting shutout by Kings Mtn. Brevard is decent enough to keep it close for a half but Asheville should pull away in the 2nd.
Asheville 29
Brevard 13
Rosman @ Enka- Signs of progress are apparent at Enka. They only lost by 7 to Pisgah, a team that usually destroys them. This week should be a good chance to gain confidence and play some younger players as Rosman is one of the worst teams in the state.
Enka 48
Rosman 7
Tuscola @ Erwin- This could be a fun shootout type of game. Both teams can score a lot of points and Erwin will be way better than anyone Tuscola has played so far. Erwin out up 55 on Mountain Heritage and could easily go over 40 again this week. The question is, can they stop a potent Tuscola running game?
Erwin 41
Tuscola 35
Andrews @ North Buncombe- The best chance at a win for the hapless hawks came... and went in a 14-0 defeat to Madison. North Buncombe has only allowed 35 points in 2 games but has not scored any. Andrews is one of the better 1A teams in the state and should win easily.
Andrews 41
North Buncombe 7
McDowell @ East Rutherford- The Titans have nothing to be ashamed of competing with Mitchell for most of the game. The titans actually had many chances in the first half to take control of the game but penalties and turnovers ruined any chance of an upset. I'm glad to see East Rutherford fielded a team this year but they have not been competitive. McDowell should win pretty easily.
McDowell 48
East Rutherford 19
Reynolds @ Alexander Central- Trap game? Reynolds has been super impressive on both sides of the ball and appears to be the best team in the conference. Alexander Central has also had a good start to the season beating a solid Hickory team and North Gaston. Bring a road game, this could be closer than people think but Reynolds should have too much talent.
Reynolds 30
Alexander Central 21
Smoky Mountain @ Roberson- Roberson surprised many by winning 12-0 at Ashbrook. This week's game will tell more about TC. Smoky has a power running game and will be a tough test. This could be one of the closest games of the week in the conference and is a toss-up.
Roberson 21
