Conference play got started last week and Roberson and Erwin took big leaps toward making the state playoffs. What will this week bring?

Reynolds @ Enka- Enka was oh so close to beating Erwin last week but has to recover quickly to stand a chance vs league favorite Reynolds. This one will be closer than last week for the Rockets but they will win easily.

Reynolds 49
Enka 14

Erwin @ Asheville- Asheville pulled away last against North Davidson, a game they won by 55 points last season. Erwin has to feel good about beating Erwin but they will face an uphill battle against a very good Asheville defense.

Asheville 27
Erwin 14

Roberson @ North Buncombe- Roberson also is feeling good after outscoring McDowell last week. North Buncombe will be nothing more than a glorified scrimmage.

Roberson 42
North Buncombe 7

Power Rankings

1. Reynolds
2. Asheville
3. Roberson
4. Erwin
5. McDowell
6. Enka
7. North Buncombe

Here my thoughts, ACR and Asheville are set to battle next week so both could be a little sluggish this week. I am sure both win but it could be a ugly tough beginning for both teams before they regroup and dominate the second half. With that said, here are my weekly guesses……

AC Reynolds - 42
Enka - 10

Asheville - 27
Erwin - 12

TC Roberson - 55
N Buncombe - 3

Erwin vs Asheville will be a little tighter of a football game. 21-14 Asheville
Maybe..but the Asheville offense may have found a running game which was not there the first 3 weeks. If that can continue it will take some pressure off the young QB.

ACR-45
Enka-6

This one will be a real snoozer.

Asheville-31
Erwin-6

Respect to what Mike Sexton has done at Enka, but at the end of the day it’s still Enka. If Erwin struggled with Enka’s defense they will definitely struggle against Asheville’s. Asheville out-athletes Erwin. May not be a blowout on the scoreboard, but the Asheville defense dominates from start to finish.

TCR- 56
NB- 6

No shot NB keeps this anywhere close. Good news: two running teams and the game will be over before 9:00.

Enka has never had a good team that I know of
Actually in the mid nineties they had a couple years of good teams. Coach Conner (brother of ACR coach Scott Conner) and his son at QB and several good WR’s they were 8-10 win teams. Not sure if they won conference or not but they were a quality team, and a playoff team.

I think in those years they finished 2nd behind the Jeremy Lassiter teams at North Buncombe. But they were good. Both of them
You may be right, I’m too old to remember which years were which! I do know both of those teams were good. I had a cousin who played for Enka during those years, I believe it was ‘94-95.

Didn't NB have some good years back in the mid-2000s? I seem to remember a good QB they had, I think he actually went on to play baseball, can't remember his name.

Easy to do as we get older. Congrats to the Falcons. I’ve said for years they were a sleeping giant. The growth in Mills River has to translate at some point

Yea, it's definitely the fastest growing in the county. I think WH is poised for some breakout success. JV looks good and from what I'm told the middle school looks good with big numbers. Plus it helps when the admin at the school helps prioritize athletics. Gonna be a fun few years for the falcons.
