Anyone else hearing boosters and fans ask if the football coach will ever bring a state championship to Madison Central?
Im not sure there is anything any coach can do about kids and drugs. And I would like to seperate the Baily and Foster kids. Baily supposedly got caught with a little herb, nothing earth shattering about a hs kid smoking grass. After serving his alternative school punishment he should be allowed back (if hes not graduated). But Foster was a whole new ballgame. That dude was dealing steriods, got arrested for assault, and then instead of being a man and taking responsibility he began working for Madison County narcotics snitching (and thats per the clarion ledger). That dude should have been kicked off asap. And the crazy thing is the schools randomly drug test for narcotics but dont for steroids. The test are different and a big price jump. But steriods are much more dangerous and abused in affluent hs's football teams than potbobbylabonte said:1. He plans on recruiting the private schools a little harder. He got Chaz Ramsey, Will Martin, and Jarod Foster from private ball (all D-I signees). Also Hugh Warren (CL metro player of year) and Peyton Johnson (Hall built entire offense around this guy according to Hall himself). South Panola just got a quarterback from Tunica Academy to be their starter because they didn't have a QB on campus and it cost them last year.
2. Needs to work on drug problem. Jarod Foster got arrested while at MC and also at Ole Miss. Bailey kid recently got sent to alternative school, while some other players are having some problem.
3. Germantown took some players, just like Ridgeland did several years ago.
1. MC lost games last year so a incoming jr class that hasnt lost since 7th grade is not even remotely correctmadisoninsider said:Coach has a large talent pool and several private schools to look for additional talent, some of the best facilities in the state, elite conditioning program,an incoming junior class that has not lost a game since the 7th grade,a relatively weak local region, a deep pockets booster club, yet the only programs at MC winning championships are women's softball and track. Talent exists in football, but perhaps that talent and depth is not being developed. A good percentage of last year's senior class got scholarships to play after HS, but the two who received D1 offers may not make the grade and will be playing at the JC level which may be good since they will get some time to develop. Not my thoughts, just what is being said in the background in Madison.
Agreed on every bit of that.FreeDawg wrote[/b said:_________________________________________________1. MC lost games last year so a incoming jr class that hasnt lost since 7th grade is not even remotely correct_________________________________________________
2. I havent heard of Desper being in academic hot water anywhere. I believe you are wrong on that as well
3. Im assuming your like 16 so Im gonna be nice. The "what is being said in the background of madison" made me chuckle. I played at MC so here it goes, outside of the team and school the community only has passing interest in MC football. Nobody really gives a ****. There are better things to do than worry about hs football in Madison (besides crootin prospects). Madison is not like Batesville where people in the community actually are emotionally invested with the local team.
The only thing we may be in agreement on is talent development. MC should be running what Hoover runs, a passing spread. With all the baseball players, finding a QB shouldnt be a problem. MC running a midline option in 2012 is a joke

I've seen a number of parents who don't have kids on the team at home and away games. Many are high levelboosters. Grant it, some of them have future players as children.FreeDawg said:If thats the case I really had no idea. I just assumed the 9th graders at Rosa Scott were the jv squad, The thhing about Madison traveling is because the families of most the players can afford it. Madidon has always traveled well because theyve always had a huge team with able parents who will follow theyre kids statewide to watch them. It was the same 10 years ago. The thiking that MC has a "traveling" fan base not dependent on the families is funny. How many games do you think my and parents and my buddies parents have traveled to in ten years since we graduated? Zero

1. MC lost games last year so a incoming jr class that hasnt lost since 7th grade is not even remotely correct
Madison's incoming Jr class is the class of 2014. In the 7th-9th grade, they did not lose a single game. During their 10th grade season as the Jr. Varsity football team, they did not lose a game.

You are correct, Despar is not in academic hot water. But, Bennett may not make it to Cal because of academic requirements and has already agreed to play JC football in north MS. The pitcher from MC's baseball team doesn't appear to be Ole Miss bound due to academics.

Not 16 and the community is very high on football. No other team in the statehasfans that travel like MC.West Monroe, visitor section full. Tupelo, visitor section full. Olive Branch, visitor section full and they rented a luxury bus to travel there as fans. Also, no other fan base has invested as much money in their HS program as Madison. If you don't think they expect a return on the investment, then you are fooling yourself. Agree that USP fans are emotionally invested in the team as there is not much else there. USP was down last year with no real threat QB. They now have a threat QB and the Conner kid isa star athlete.

Weboth agree that talent is not being developed. I'mmore in the problem being not enoughdepth as playersaren't developed as they enter football in the middle school. The 6 or 8 naturally gifted players are run ragged in middle school and there is no development of the backups. By the time they hit HS, the problem is only more apparent. USP begins developing players into their system in youth league football.

MC will have some talent this year with a few with some speed, but limited in size and undeveloped backups. Only 2 or 3 that play baseball are also playing football.
I only started this thread because these are some of the things talked about by some of the fans, although many will not say openly for fears it will impact opportunities for their kids. .
