I’ve heard some things about MC off the field but forget about all that..I haven’t heard much about them on the field!
What are their strengths and weaknesses on each side of the ball? I’ve watched Butler several times this season.

Has MC been successful slowing down Dual threat QBs? Butler has one. He is not fast but is tough to bring down, runs real

How will they be emotionally playing their QB from last season? Is that even a factor?

Should they know some of his tendencies or a year removed washes it out?

Butlers biggest weakness in my opinion is their OL. Can MC take advantage? Do they have a strong DL? If they win that battle that will help them a lot.

who is the QB? I saw some highlights but haven’t heard much about him.

Do we expect a close game?

I honestly expect a close game and Butler pulling away late. Butler is good but not as explosive as the team in the spring. The offense goes on long drives and eat up clock. The defense is sound but not as good as last year. Penalties and being careless is what caused Butler to lose to Richmond, almost cost them against Catholic and kept the Independence game close.

Mallard Creek is good enough to keep this close in my opinion.

Wiseman, I would like to think they could be competitive here and who knows, they could surprise me but I don't think so.

They can't score and their best bet would be to catch someone napping and maybe turn them over and get a couple short fields. However, the ex-DC is across the field as well as the ex- QB. They aren't gonna be napping.

The Creek season has been about what I expected minus the North Meck game. If they can keep this group together they have a very good shot at being a top 10 team next year, but right now they aren't in the Top 25.

I haven’t really seen Butler play a complete game this year. I think Mallard Creek can keep it competitive against this version of Butler.

Hopefully this MC team sticks together and don’t leave.

I have seen two Butler games. I watched the Butler Richmond Co. game on live stream. Butler looked strong early and then cratered in the 4th quarter. Against Catholic, they ran up and down the field at will in the 1st half. They were up 21-7 at half and should have been ahead more. In the 2nd half, they went to sleep and made mistakes. Catholic tied it and was driving for the go ahead touchdown late in the 4th quarter before Butler got a couple of breaks and scored a late TD to win it. They are big and physical but not explosive. Their quarterback is a dangerous playmaker that can throw and run it but they don't extend the field. When they play to their potential they can beat anyone and look unstoppable. As mpj2k8 said, they have not put together a complete game all year. I don't know if they are gassing in the 2nd half or if it is just mental. They may be able to coast through 2 rounds but will have to bring their A game for 4 full quarters to go further. If MC can hang close until the 2nd half, they have a chance.

The Butler defense will get a shutout in this game unless MC scores after the game has been decided.

Butler’s my Westside sleeper. Watched them maul Grimsley last year for 2 quarters, than go Ghost. They have the same problem this year. They have got to figure out how to put teams away. My Creekboyz defense is good enough, but stay on the field to long, because of the numerous 3 and out's on the offensive side of the ball. The Creek will need David Lampkin the fastest kid in the State, along with hard running back Tomar Bivens to show up big. If not 35-7 Bulldogs.

Butler Big. Agree with Nepsy. Butler is machine like right now. Very methodical. I'll take a methodical team in the playoffs. The only chance MC has is to run the ball, and I dont think they can run it consistently against Butler. If the season started right now, MC may be 4th or 5th best team in their conference. MC has an offensive problem. Gaffney 14, WC 29, but deceiving a special teams gave them 21 points. NM 14, Hough 7, Chambers 7. For comparison WC scored 28 on Chambers, 37 vs North, and 17 Hough.

Butler 38 MC 14

MC is terrible this year. Running clock for butler
You didn’t know this, but our horrible alleged fat white QB, you called out last year, is the QB burning it up for Butler this year, along with one of our DE/LB. I’m paraphrasing your comments.

Our guys are actually on fire this year. They’re just balling out for other teams. 🤷🏾‍♂️😂

I knew he left, hasn't done much at bulter, but okay. Butler will move and down the field with ease. MC happy just to make the playoffs lol

What! Hasn’t done much? Have you watched him play? He’s been the only offense they’ve had in some games. MC happy to make the playoffs? Thanks for the compliment. We shouldn’t have made the playoffs. 😂

@Nepsy- who are you referring to at DE that was at creek? Is it Smoot who went from MC to Olympic to Butler?

Brower has looked like a much better QB this season under Hales in comparison to his JR year. I think part of the reason why Butler’s offense isn’t as explosive is bc they have had Chambers #6 mostly playing defense and #11 Harris who has only played the first 2 games (has sat out) at Corner although I think his best position is WR. I think Harris playing offense would change a lot for them and give them a vertical threat they don’t have currently. Best WRs are #2 #6 and #11 on that team but two of them play defense.

Yikes. Have you seen Butler play? Xavion is leading them in a great big way. Hard to see him playing at Butler as he has been a creek guy his entire life. His dad coaches/coached at MC. Great family and a great baller. He is the example of doing more with less. Very proud of him and he will do well at GW. Dont sleep on Butler. They will be a sneaky pick to go all the way. A Butler-Richmond rematch will not be out of the question...

Nepsy. Not sure about Da Creek after this year. They are basically a .500 team since Palmeri left. Thats a bit deceptive given the conference they are in, but it wasn't too long ago they were very close to beating Dutchfork, and beating Chambers/Hough/Butler was just run of the mill stuff. Hopefully the staff has a retention plan in place or the wheels could really fall off next year.

Yes! Smooth was on his way back to the Creek, but after kids started exiting. The Family decided to go with Stone, who they knew, and could sell him better on how they would use him on defense at Butler. I like the RB Tensley for Butler. He’s a game changer IMO. I believe they use him at LB also. Butler playing all 4 quarters without drop offs, is dangerous.

Yeah you nailed it. Butler hasn’t played a complete game since Glenn in the spring. I just haven’t seen Butler’s full potential.

i said this a month ago, considering the talent that left, I don’t think Mallard Creek had a bad year. Makes you wonder how good they would’ve been with all of their talent.

I told y’all this would be competitive. Butler is playing inconsistent like they have looked all year.

Its over because Butler isn’t a quick strike team. Mallard Creek’s defense is aggressive and wanted it more. Butler doesn’t have the speed Mallard Creek would fear and it shows

I never gave a score but I did say Mallard Creek would make this competitive. I was half right, Mallard Creek dominated. Congratulations to them because they came to play.

Something was off with this Butler team all year. Last week’s game with Independence afterwards I stated they can go to the west finals or lose in the first round. Some teams are what they are and don’t improve.

Wow. Bad karma for Butler for real. Couldn't be more surprised. Reminds me of 07 when Rod Chisolm left WC for Indy and greener pastures only to see WC do well and Indy not win the ship. Had Rod stayed WC likely wins the 4A barring the mess. Brower leaves MC and then gets whipped by his former team and not even compete for the ship. Sometimes business decisons go horribly wrong.

Still dont think this tells us anything about MC, but more about Butler being inconsistent. The MC team i saw all season is still not that good. IMHO

Agree Blue and Gold. This is a Butler issue. MC is an avg. To good team. Butler is the key variable in this game. With no subdivision you have to play round one in 3A and 4A. No true cupcakes

I saw a few Butler games and a few Mallard Creek games. I never got the feeling Butler had a huge talent advantage over Mallard Creek. You can make an argument MC has more athletes. Mallard Creek played in the toughest conference in the state and played a pretty good South Carolina team. They lost to really good teams. I didn’t think they were as bad as what many people made them out to be. They weren’t dominant like before.

I saw the Butler/Indy game and I wasn’t impressed with Butler. That’s why I felt MC would be competitive.

Creek was missing several kids tonight including their best defender in Muldrow.

I'm ecstatic for the kids. The crap they have taken all year from former players and parents has been disgusting. No group of kids deserved it more especially with Brower and Smoot on the other side.

I have been watching Creek games since 08. This one was special
