I think this can only be good for us . Same thing McCready heard :

Brandon Marcello<s>@</s>bmarcelloFWIW: I received text messages this morning from Chris Jones' cell denying report that CJ will visit Ole Miss and MSU this week.

Being brutally honest if we keep Jones with the bulk of the rest of the class..

I can live with that. Would like to see us get our issue with Mix smoothed over and add the Alexanders but that's all somewhat secondary to getting Jones. Not only is he the best player in our recruiting class he plays at probably our biggest position of need, a DE pass rusher.

Nice. Let's hope it stays that way. My guess is it changes 3 more times this week, and then we find out Friday night what he's really doing.

From what I can tell the only accurate info lately has come from non-official sources. He's not talking to anyone in the press or recruiting sites and if he is, he's lying. Looks like we're all gonna either love him or hate him next wednesday. I feel like he's lying to our entire fanbase and that we're gonna hate him so much for the next 4 years.

Someone just posted from another site that McCready believes it's 75/25% OM.

I think the writing is on the wall. He misled about going to OM last weekend and will do the same this weekend. I say he stays committed to us and signs with OM on signing day. I may be totally wrong but that seems to be the way it is setting up.

I said last week that I thought he was still going to sign with MSU, and I'm sticking to that. I will say this, though. Mullen's recruiting tactics with Jones and some others since he's been there can backfire and they have. I don't know the man, so I won't try to speculate on why he does it. Maybe he's just that intense.

I'd love to know after recruiting season what Mullen does that is so bad. People are talkin gabout him not wanting other recruits to take visits, but doesn't every other coach do that? I mean, does Ole Miss want T Conner to visit State? I'm guessing no, although they prett ymuch wrap up every recruit from SP.

Unless he tells the coaches he'd rather not. Which would then, "spill the beans" 5 week plan or whatever.

We tell kids to take their visits. You want kids who want to be there. If you shield them and cut them off from other schools, you run the risk of them wondering if they made the right decision later and becoming a problem. It's about them not us, which is something that far too many "fans" don't get.

I don't believe that. I don't think most schools tell kids to take their visits.

Mullen has been coaching for how long? And at places where they had GREAT success recruiting. So, are you saying that at Florida, where they had great classes, they encouraged kids to take their visits, then Mullen...seeing all that success completely abandoned that approach?

I think this is reverse psychology BS from Ole Miss. I'm sure they would love for Mullen to encourage his 5 star recruits to visit Ole Miss.

Same thing happened last week. A report leaked that he was visiting. Jones denied it because of the pressure I assume. It comes out this week he's taking unofficials to both and then he denies it likely because of pressure.

I bet he's in Oxford Friday, and I bet he signs with us.

If he was confident about MSU there would be no reason for him to pull back from the media. He may truly be undecided, but it's probably a good thing for us that he's still playing cat and mouse with the media. If the local pressure is like they say it is, and he does want to go to Ole Miss now, he has no choice but to lie or mislead the media until he signs.

As to how our coaches handle commits visiting, I don't believe they pressure players to NOT take visits. In fact I've heard they do the opposite, encouraging a player to take visits if they show interest. It's a good sales strategy, shows confidence in your product to do so. If Mullen tries to pressure guys to not visit, I think that's a bad strategy.

I've heard a couple of rumors. don't wanna make too big a deal about it but I have some sources at other schools who love recruiting 1 on 1 against Dan. Say he's bad about not being up front with players we are recruiting. For example, if we are after 2 guys for the same position he'll lie to both about the other player as opposed to being up front and just explaining that you always have to have a backup plan. The perfect example of this was the recruitment of Jevan Snead at Florida. He was committed to Dan @ UF when they were recruiting Tebow. Dan kept lying to Snead saying that he wanted Tebow to play LB, not QB. Snead saw right through it and decommited. Now granted....that one worked out. Snead sux ***. But I've heard that's indicative of how he treats recruits....like they aren't smart enough to figure it all out. And lots of times they are.

Oh well. Hopefully he's improved since those days. I'd like to think he has at least.

Everything I've heard is the opposite. Dan loses recruits because he's too honest with them about how they'll have to work hard for their spots on the field rather than giving the sugar-coating BS that recruits want to hear.

In youre previous post you called Chris a liar (that'll always help with a recruit), and then in this post, well just, sigh...

That's interesting. My example was one that I could think of and was from the mouth of another recruiter but that doesn't mean i's always the case.

Let me be clear, though. I've heard another thing or two that I don't wanna post here(especially not before next wednesday). That was just something I feel comfy saying in public. Either way, I'm not happy with his inability to close the deal. I hope he proves me wrong.

I may have used the word Liar, but that was probably a mistake on my part. I think that he's feeling a lot of pressure so sometimes he's telling people things to take some heat off of his back. I hope he sees this and understands that I'm certainly not degrading him.

x1000.

What does everyone freaking out on here and giving them ALL the ammo in the world to negatively recruit against us help? This place is intolerable right now -- and I can only imagine the printout they are putting together for his(alleged) visit on Friday.

Chill out and let it play out -- then freak out next week if need be. Going full retard is doing NOTHING but hurting us right now... and there's still alot of good things being heard about this situation and posted from our side... but it's getting lost in this shuffle right now...

We'll see soon enough what kind of man CJ is, and if honor or integrity means more than party favors, etc. Earlier we were treated to numerous stories about how he was loyal to us because we believed in him and offered him when he was a 2-star with little interest from anyone else, and no interest from Ole Miss. If it's true he's wavering after a weekend of partying in Oxford, then he just might be a better fit at Ole Miss than at MSU. If he's the young man that was earlier portrayed, then he'll sign with us.

Either way, I'm not going to worry about it. He'll probably end up where he belongs. I'll only be bothered if he plays the signing-day switch BS, where he screws us by not giving us a chance to make other plans.

If Mullen had remained steadfast with his policy of never allowing commits to visit, without exception, he would not be in the mess he's in now. Stick with the policy come hell or high water.

I bolded the important part

I'm just spit balling as I only follow recruiting casually here and at TD, but that statement doesn't mean anything. It means that if he visits somewhere, it will only be one of the two. I hope for our sake he visits state, but that statement is the epitome of saying something without saying anything.
