Them dawgs from Marlboro County cross the border for a game at
Pate Stadium Friday night. Scotland squeaked out a win down there
last year and Marlboro usually plays the Scots tough. Big big crowd for
sure Friday night. Scotland defensively has looked good this year while the
offense primarily this past Friday night Zamirless sputtered all night long
with mistakes and penalties. Listening to coaches show just finished its
questionable at best to see 34 this Friday night but he did say its just Monday.
Looking forward to game #3 as the dawgs come a calling.
Any thoughts, predictions, comments?

There are some major differences in the NC high school football rules as compared to SC. That should weigh in the Scots favor. Marlboro is claiming that they are young and have qb issues.

What the heck you talking about? All public high schools football teams goes by NATIONAL FEDERATION HIGH SCHOOL rule books. Only major difference between states would be the running clock issues.

There are changes though starting in 2016
-Completely clear or completely white tooth and mouth protectors are no longer prohibited.
-Football gloves are now required to meet either the new SFIA specification or the existing NOCSAE test standard at the time of manufacture
-In a continued effort to minimize risk, the Committee made clipping in the free-blocking zone illegal. Clipping is now illegal anywhere on the field at any time

You are so wrong I was in Texas at allen high school (last Friday) and they can bring kick-offs out of the endzone unless that changed this year that is not allowed in NC. Some states actually have rules that are not uniform.

The placement of the officials causing the pace to be slowed some. Its not the same in SC.

That rule is old and was changed 20yrs ago due to fear of serious injuries. Now if that receiver catches and/or possibly recovers the kick in its team endzone he can run or stay

If you are a major fan of football you will come to realize that a lot of injuries happen on returned plays. From blind side blocks, to maybe clipping, to possibly below waist block, but most likely face masking

safety - safety - safety

I'm talking about a kick-off in Texas it is returnable in NC it is not. You need to read the Texas Rule Book! TX is the only state that allows this if I'm not mistaken. They use the NCAA rules as it relates to this.

Could it be because they fall under the NCAA rule sir?
My last message was not pointing at your prior message. I was just stating in general

But yes you are correct about the Texas/Massachusetts festivity

There is a difference in one
of the referee placements not in the linebackers
way anymore moved to other side of the line for
his safety Id assume.

Marlboro having qb issues? Don't they have the same qb from a year ago? If so, I liked what I saw from him last year, nice size strong arm and good heart as he took a beating vs us and kept coming back for more. He looked like he had nice potential from what I saw in our game and a lot of highlights throughout the year.

JMACDE99, you write well, better than I remember,;).
Scotland vs. Independence, not sure what I was looking at as far as Scotland was concerned. Looks like they are a long way from being polished. A long way from deciding who plays where in the backfield, a long, long ways from convincing the QB he can pass the football (which will be a must down the road), and, my grandmother could block our punts, on ever punt the kick should have been blocked, I don't understand our punt formation at all, Marlboro will punt lots of pressure on the punter.

The punter is very slow getting the ball kicked.hopefully that is being addressed. No doubt Marlboro thinking we going to block one .

2A Cheraw defeated Marlboro 14-0..... Marlboro had to come from behind to defeat 1A Carvers bay....if Scotland should lose this game, they will be a huge embarrassment to NC ......Scotland plays cheerleaders 2nd half 42-7

i think this kid would be better off doing the rugby style kicks to give him a little more time. He looks really uncomfortable back there and RC will eat us alive if this doesn't improve.

I liked what we did in 2011 when we had Dominique Green Punting (I believe that's who it was), he didn't have the best punts but he got the job done and that put another great athlete on the field.

great point - nb did the same with mike hughes and you thought twice about flying in there like a banshee. he would pull that thing and go 60 in a blink.

The Scots two close games from last year (Marlboro and Britt) won't be close this year. Both of those teams are struggling. Not sure how good New Hanover is, they lost to Myrtle Beach who is pretty good, but they really struggled to pull away from Hoke. Just not a very strong schedule for the Scotties this year. Don't beat me up for saying that. I don't think it's their fault because they do have some great programs on the schedule, it's just kind of a down year.

The fact that this is a rivalry game is the only factor that may keep this even remotely close. I don't think it will be though. I'm going to say the Scots win this one 49-6.

Hanover lost a lot from last year. They'll have their hands full with Havelock tonight who shut them out 42-0 at home a year ago.

Havelock rushed for 450 yards while only having the ball for 19 minutes. Big test the next two weeks for the Wildcats.
