Washington State just lost in federal court — and the ruling is a clear win for federal authority.
A federal judge has ordered the state to turn over all documents tied to immigrants receiving Medicare, Medicaid, or Washington Apple Health.
And here’s the part they really didn’t want to hear:
Those records have to be handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
No loopholes.
No sanctuary carve-outs.
No bureaucratic games.
For years, states like Washington have acted like they could shield information from the federal government while still taking federal money.
A judge just said: not anymore.
If you’re receiving taxpayer-funded benefits, the federal government has the right to verify eligibility — and ICE has the authority to enforce the law.
As one observer put it:
“Let’s pop a cork and celebrate. Washington State just lost to the federal government. They have to turn it over to ICE.”
Sanctuary politics just ran head-first into federal supremacy.
