HFC OFFICIAL POSITION: Six-month spending freeze CR (H.R.1968):

“The House Freedom Caucus supports the FY 2025 Continuing Resolution. Contrary to Congress' longtime abuse of this legislative tool, this CR is a paradigm shift.

This bill will reduce and then freeze spending for the next six months to allow President Trump and his Administration to continue their critical work within the Executive Branch to find and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.

It entirely kills the prospect of a budget busting, pork filled omnibus this fiscal year, and it breaks the longstanding practice in the Swamp of handcuffing increases in defense funding with increases to the non-defense bureaucracy.

Furthermore, it contains zero earmarks, makes major rescissions to the Internal Revenue Service and the so-called “Commerce slush fund,” and includes additional funding for immigration enforcement and deportation operations. Perhaps most importantly, it prevents Democrats from derailing the America First agenda with a go-nowhere government shutdown.

With the six months of funding this bill provides, Freedom Caucus Members look forward to working hand-in-hand with DOGE, OMB, and the new cabinet secretaries in eliminating even more waste, fraud, and abuse — and enacting historic spending reforms via reconciliation — all as part of President Trump’s effort to balance the budget."

That's easy to say when we haven't seen the text yet, and they're voting on it today.

Oh wait, that's another thing we weren't going to do anymore.

Rep Roy on
@JesseKellyDC
: "I support what the President wants to do with a six month freeze in spending at the current spending levels using a very pretty tight, clean CR.

The most important point is to give the president and Elon more time to use DOGE, and Russ Vought over the Office of Management and Budget, time to figure out how they can do impoundment and rescissions to keep cutting what they're cutting."

I have generally opposed CRs.

However, this CR is a paradigm shift.

The bill REDUCES then FREEZES spending for the next six months and contains ZERO earmarks.

This will allow President Trump and his Administration to continue delivering wins for the American people, including DOGE exposing and eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.

Plus, President Trump has the constitutional power of impoundment—meaning he doesn’t have to spend every dollar that Congress appropriates.

Democrats want to shut down the government to grind President Trump’s historic work to a halt. I refuse to let this happen.

We must keep the lights on and the government running so we can continue advancing President Trump’s America First agenda.

Freedom Caucus said to stop crying and get onboard.

I will when they stop doing CRs.

A government shutdown has the opportunity to hurt my family. We are beyond that point. Individual Department funding bills or all you get from me is a big fat no.

Do you not see the enthusiam (and on the opposite side fear) for which they're doing just a little bit?

Quit being weak.

Nobody is being weak goofball. Even the Freedom Caucus is behind doing it this way. If they can support it then it shouldn't be that hard to understand what's happening. If the Government is shut down then direct your anger at the Democrats.

Bongino is a glorified mall cop. Please.

I can imagine it now. "Give me liberty, or give me death in 6 months because I have to tell everyone goodbye". -Patrick Henry in this Congress

You don't trust Trump, The Republicans, and now the Freedom Caucus. You definitely sound like a Democrat Controlled Opposition puppet.

Yet you oppose the bill despite not having seen the text.

Foolish.

Good point. They say it's a CR, I believe that much and oppose it.

If it's 12 different funding bills they're just saying is one bill to fool all of us, then you got me.

Right, you are opposing a bill you haven’t read while criticizing someone for supporting the same bill they hadn’t read either.

Petty partisanism at its finest right there

It's a Continuing Resolution. For that reason alone I criticize it.

This should cheer you up until some Far Left Judge tries to stop it.

I had already heard that, as well as they'll be aiming to cut out the amnesty loophole they've been using. No more illegals in our schools.

A lot of what they're doing I love. It needs codified, or it means nothing. We have 22 months left.

And all of your huff for nothing.

Massie votes no and it passes the house.

Go find something else to hysterically post about.

I don't have a problem with Massie. Like I said above that unlike the Democrats he's consistent. The Freedom Caucus supported it and they aren't RINOS by any measure. I think they were being practical because this isn't an easy fix.

Perhaps pay more attention to what the bill says that what it is called.

You are the person the news agencies target when they write their headlines. That's all you need to see to be convinced. To hell with the atricle.

Patience grasshopper, there will be plenty of time for that.

First priority this morning was to check the 401k. I'm not dropping off a cliff, essentially holding steady. This is the correction I've been looking for since the CARES Act, when I put 50% of it into bonds. I'm finally able to start looking for a bottom, then I'll be rolling!

Difference:

Dems - you're going to far (they're psycho)
Massie - you're hardly doing a damn thing different (sane)

What you're saying is Trump is mostly psycho.

1 Democrat in the Congress voted yes. If 9 Democrats don't vote yes in the Senate then the Democrat Party can explain why they want to Shut the Government Down. It's obviously not to save money. That's the story. Not two Libertarians from Kentucky who have been consistent.
