May be Germans, but Bo Wallace was just offered by Ole Miss per Rosebowl.

They are such followers now. I'm sure they are telling Bo, "well if it's playing time in the SEC you're wanting, you can start for us"

What's the thoughts on their chances of reeling in Wallace? Or just tell me if this has already been discussed elsewhere

is that Wallace had planned to come as a walkon but with all of the sudden interest in the kid, Freeze decided to bring the kid in at midterm with a scholly.Apparently, they feel he will fit in well in Freeze's wide open spread formation so I've been told.

when part of the reason he cited for leaving Arkansas St. was Freeze being promoted to HC? That would really make no sense.

Not a flame in anyway but Neal McCready just reported that the word around town is that Bo will commit to Ole Miss next week. I am not saying Ole Miss is going to get him but just what is being reported. I do know his girlfriend attends Ole Miss but I do find it strange that he would want to play under Freeze after his quotes on why he transferred from Ark St.

I am indifferent on MSU signing Wallace, but I would hate to see him go to Ole Miss because he is leagues better than anything they've got + he knows the system.

Rumblings on Wallace have been that Freeze wanted Alford and Liggins both and would offer Wallace a scholly if he didnt get both those. Alford announced for USM and word gets out the same day that Wallace now has an offer. I doubt it was a who is better thing, but more wanting to sign 2 HS QBs.

That said, if Wallace does sign with Ole Miss, no way he could be any worse than what we currently have on roster; especially if half the rumors about Mackey are true.

They've got about 10-15 spots to fill in the next 3 weeks so it's not like they are running short on schollys or something. Liggins would likely redshirt & Wallace only has 3 years to play.<div>
</div><div>I honestly can't see why he'd want to come to MSU. He'd be transferring in to the same situation Favre just wanted out off. His best chance for early playing time with us would be for Russell to get injured & for Dak to suck.</div>

Actually I beileve the rebs are nearly out of schollies. Because of 85 rule as of this moments they have it is believed to be 21 spots. Yes that could change if a few kids dont stay enrolled for spring semester. It actually could be 22 now with massie declaring. Not sure if that was counting him or not. OM also has two gray shirts in miller and wood. That makes 19 spots available. Ole miss has 13 committed, 14 if you count mathers. He still said OM is his leader. So there really arent that many spots left for ole miss either..</p>

I would like to have him because we need depth, but I'm not going to get worked up over a juco qb who most schools have freshman head of him on their boards. With that said, he'll probably sign with Mississippi and become Cam Jr.

somebody needs to find out what they're telling them and start using that against them. They apparently like to use pressure and persuasion. Possibly tout playing time too.

Not sure if your number already accounts for any transfers that have happened --- but everyone has at least 1 or 2 every year. Especially with a new coach. Heck, we lost a QB and two young WRs after getting rid of Croom and bringing in a national champion offensive coordinator. I figure Freeze will sign a full class if he can get the caliber players he wants.

The truth is that he is probably a decently talented QB who will not challenge either Russell or Prescott for playing time. Everybody is all caught up in him being Mr. All World JUCO Superhero, but the truth is those guys very, very rarely work out. Any comparison to Cam Newton is a joke. The JUCO system produces a guy with these same accolades every year. How many of those guys were big contributors in DI?

Wallace was lightly recruited out of HS, rode the pine at ASU, and transferred out because he was not being "developed" a.k.a. Freeze was paying more attention to more talented players. In reality he could be a solid backup, and upgrade from mini-Favre. Russell has two years of SEC experience, three years in the system, and a lot of time in with his receivers. Prescott fits the mold for the kind of offense we would prefer to be running. Wallace just is not going to save the world, but we do need a third QB on the roster.

That said, I hope we get Liggins as well, but he's a DE. There simply were not many good prospects that would consider us this year. Voytik was our best prospect, and we missed out on him. We had better not strike out on QB next year or we are in trouble.

UM is probably the best fit for Wallace considering he would walk into a starting role in an offense that he will have had some familiarity to him. He'll get his *** handed to him week in and week out, but he will play. That's just the way it is. We can offer him a few snaps a year and a bowl game trip. UM can offer him a start in the SEC.

Wallace's chance for significant playing time at MSU or even eventually starting than I am. I've never seen Prescott in a game so for me he's an unknown. And I've never seen Russell do anything all that productive against a decent SEC defense (granted he looks good in our games with CUSA competition). So Russell right now is AT BEST an average SEC QB and how well Prescott does in college is yet to be seen. No reason that Wallace wouldn't be given a VERY serious look if he came here. And if he can play Mullen WILL play him. DM has already shown he has no problem playing 2 or even 3 QBs in a game if they deserve playing time.

The previous staff actually recruited him out of HS and then while at EMCC. State has tried to come in in the last little while with interest.

As for whether he would ever sign with Ole Miss:
If Ole Miss were to offer, Wallace said the Rebels would quickly leapfrog other potential suitors. “Ole Miss has always been at the top of my list,” he said. He’s merely hoping for the opportunity. "Freeze, it’s kind of ironic, him getting a job up there. I just hope I get an opportunity to get an offer and maybe get a chance to play there,” Wallace said. “I’m committed to winning; I’m committed to winning football games. I’m somebody that’s going to do everything I can to win football games for my team.”

guys need a qb in the worst kind of way and he probably feels like he can go in there and start if not receive substantial early playing time. He sounds like a pretty good football player and should help your cause. I would like to see us sign at least one QB and put a red shirt on him.

He's nothing more than our 4-5 option whereas he's more than likely yalls starter next year.

we only have 2 options on our whole roster. Let's not be ridiculous we need a 3rd QB in a BAD way! I'm just frustrated we wasted our time fiddling with a guy who was going to jump to the dumpster fire if given any opportunity.

He has a lot to catch up on if he is going to pass Russell, and next year he would be competing against a fifth year senior and a guy whose strengths fits the offense a lot better. I also think people are putting too much emphasis on his accomplishments at EMCC. Success at that level rarely translates. Maybe he is all world, but there isn't any more information out there that makes me feel like that is true.

with Wallace he has the advantage of having a good year of on field experience at JUCO but still leaving him 3 years of eligibility left for whereever he goes. Just because he may not win the starting job as a sophomore doesn't mean he might not be the best option by the time he is a junior.

...he'd belike that coed who has to make the 5 AM Walk of Shame from Evans Hall after waking up and realizing she hooked up with the Level 5 World of Warcraft Master.
