Nah we havent played bad for a while. We've played teams that are better and more talented than we are. I actually thought we played well against Alabama. So if you agree with the OP then what point are you trying to make? And to be frank, we havnt just played bad our last game. If you have been watching, we havnt played good in awhile. And its all part of the OP.
I’ll agree to disagree and be done. You do make several points…but that’s not necessarily what the OP was about.Nah we havent played bad for a while. We've played teams that are better and more talented than we are. I actually thought we played well against Alabama.
Mizzou we played bad, didnt play hard, didnt do anything right. First game all year you could say that about this team.... and again if you watch college basketball... all teams do this. I mean Alabama lost to Ole Miss at home by double digits. Florida lost by 20 to Tenn.. then florida beats tenn by 30..... Every basketball team at some point is going to lay an egg. Until shown otherwise... i'm going to view the Mizzou game as an egg laid... not doom and gloom
I dont view Auburn, Tenn, Kentucky, or Alabama games as sky falling games. Those teams are elite level teams. Doenst mean we cant sneak up and beat em at times... but more times than not you'll end up on the wrong end of the stick due to Jimmy's and Joes' not X's and O's
We need to make some adjustments. Those adjustments arent easily made due to roster comp. I think the slow down approach may work... but its not like you can just make a 180 change mid season. Sounds like your disappointed we cant hang with the big boys... at this point i'm trying to make sure we continue to take care of businesss against the mid and lower tier teams of the league.... and weve shown to be able to do this under Jans.
This is true, but we have two road wins, and only Auburn, Bama and TAMU have more than us.We are one of only five SEC teams to lose three or more home games this year. The others are Texas, Arkansas, LSU & South Carolina. This is not the company we're trying to keep if we want to be in the tournament.
yeah but we've lost them to Alabama, Kentucky, and Mizzou. All top rated teams... and in 2 of those 3 we had chances to winWe are one of only three SEC teams to lose three home games this year. The others are Texas, Arkansas, LSU & South Carolina. This is not the company we're trying to keep if we want to be in the tournament.
Was Mizzou picked to finish worse than us in conference? According to metrics, they have been the 2nd best team in the country over the last 8 games. In saying that, it’s just an example of how pre season rankings don’t really matter at this juncture…and that goes for us and the rest of the SEC.yeah but we've lost them to Alabama, Kentucky, and Mizzou. All top rated teams... and in 2 of those 3 we had chances to win
I agree with you.. ive said the next few weeks will separate the middle.. and my hope is to be at the top of the middle. The mizzou game was a step the wrong direction. We still have games against ole miss, lsu, arkansas, oklahoma, texas, texas am... to see where we stack up against the middle.
and again.. these are games jans has won over his time here. So i'm not ready to hit the panic button yet.
rankings in general dont matter. Was Mizzou picked to finish worse than us in conference? According to metrics, they have been the 2nd best team in the country over the last 8 games. In saying that, it’s just an example of how pre season rankings don’t really matter at this juncture…and that goes for us and the rest of the SEC.
Im looking at the now.
But by your thinking, Mizzou was a bad loss. That may be wrong as well.rankings in general dont matter.
I simply used rankings in this topic as a way to say how silly people might have thought that we were picked 10th or that we were ranekd 14th at one point..... neither matter.
Net Rankings matter b/c that numbers is heavily weighed upon for NCAA tournament bids and seeding. Our net is currently 31. Solid 7-8 seed in the dance. Lets have a good week and see if we can improve that number.
nope. Didnt say that... i said first loss where we flat out played poorly against mizzou... and all teams throughout the season typically have one of those, not typically at home, but it happens. But by your thinking, Mizzou was a bad loss. That may be wrong as well.
Regardless, we played like shat. Was that due to them being “elite” as the numbers show, or us playing poorly? You are all over the place other than saying “wait and see” which is not what this thread was intended to be about.
You are on auto pilot at this point because everyone knows the generic information you are talking. Point remains, if we don’t change something going forward we will not get to where we want to be….or where we should be. Metrics will not just “even out”nope. Didnt say that... i said first loss where we flat out played poorly against mizzou... and all teams throughout the season typically have one of those, not typically at home, but it happens.
again depends on where you think we should be.You are on auto pilot at this point because everyone knows the generic information you are talking. Point remains, if we don’t change something going forward we will not get to where we want to be….or where we should be. Metrics will not just “even out”
We are obviously not clicking and something must change. We are being scouted harder every game and it has showed.
Even the coach acknowledged that the missed layup wasn’t the reason we lost that game. Do you disagree with Jan’s here?again depends on where you think we should be.
We've played 1 bad game all season long. I realize youre wanting to be in the now... but if you evluate everything in life after the worst moment in that span.. then you do that... its not my preferred way nor do i think its the right way.
we make a layup with 15 seconds left... we are 5-4.. still ranked 15th or so... and no one is even the slightest bit worried, we are all just pissed we missed a chance to be ranked in the ever vaunted top 10 b/c we lost to mizzou.... Lay up missed, 3 on the other end.. all of a sudden we are an NIT team needing to change the entire course of things.....
funny how that works
A lot of people are saying he’s been hurt. Or sure Cam has an attitude problem. But Kugel could definitely be plausibleIs there something wrong with Cam?
somebody posted on the game thread that Jans should have benched some players for attitude adjustments earlier in the year and didn’t do it. So we got left with this.
Thats like saying the kicker missing the FG isnt the reason why we lost. Sure its not the ONLY reason.. but it coulda been the reasosn why we won.Even the coach acknowledged that the missed layup wasn’t the reason we lost that game. Do you disagree with Jan’s here?
Now you are reaching and exacerbating what anyone has typed in this thread to emasculate your benign point.Thats like saying the kicker missing the FG isnt the reason why we lost. Sure its not the ONLY reason.. but it coulda been the reasosn why we won.
Point is/was we were an eyelash away from beating one of the best teams in the country. Had a break gone our way... everything that you are worried about (rankings, the now, etc) wouldnt even be an issue. We follow that up.. with the worst game of the season....... now we have to overhaul the entire philsicphy of the program or we are NIT bound.
So who are we??? the team that took a final 4 team to the buzzer... or the team that showed up against Mizzou...... or somewhere in the middle?
as i said my friend, i agree with a lot of what you say. Just totally disagree on how you view the now and how things need to change dramatically going forward. Now you are reaching and exacerbating what anyone has typed in this thread to emasculate your benign point.
your talking about me... your choose the one moment in time where saban changed QBs, thats like subbing out the PG not changing the entire philosphy of the program at the half.... goodness graciousIf my aunt had a dikk she would be my uncle.
But here we are. Not how I drew it up ….but…remember Saban changing QBs in the middle of a championship game? How did that work out?
You must evolve, brother. I can promise you that Coach Jan’s isn’t playing for second place.
Although technically he is because Aub is a 17ing machine, however. Point remains. If you think he’s just going to keep getting beat the same way, over and over, you are wrong. That would be insanity
The PV game and butler game were both bad outings…not sure how you can pin Mizzou….a borderline top ten loss, as our worst game. But that’s your opinionyour talking about me... your choose the one moment in time where saban changed QBs, thats like subbing out the PG not changing the entire philosphy of the program at the half.... goodness gracious
good talk. Your expectations and views on what this team should be are much higher than mine... and the entire "now" being after the wrost game of the season isnt a knee jerk reaction then so be it... but that isnt how basketball works. If it is.. then i wonder how flroida is feeling after losing by 20 and only scoring 44 points... there now must really stink.
There is no flow at all. We are a very easy team to defend. You really plan to stop one guy and that’s all you need to do. We are easy to score against as well….obviously
not our worst loss.... the worst weve played.... again very different things. And yes its my opinion, feel free to have your own. The games you mentioned, not butler, but PV wasnt a good showing... but to me Mizzou was the worst weve played. The PV game and butler game were both bad outings…not sure how you can pin Mizzou….a borderline top ten loss, as our worst game. But that’s your opinion
A variety of preseason predictions for the SEC.Was Mizzou picked to finish worse than us in conference? According to metrics, they have been the 2nd best team in the country over the last 8 games. In saying that, it’s just an example of how pre season rankings don’t really matter at this juncture…and that goes for us and the rest of the SEC.
Im looking at the now.
