1:South Carolina
Hire: Frank Martin (Kansas State)
Grade: A
What a home run hire for S Carolina. Their men's football and baseball teams are currently playing their best in the schools history, and now a fantastic hire in Frank Martin. Martin will bring intensity and passion to a program that is struggling to get fans excited. Although he sometimes comes across as someone who could moonlight as a WWE wreslter, Martin's connections in south Florida will bring much needed talent the Gamecock program. He really wanted the Miami job last year, so it makes you wonder why he is in such dire need to get out of Manhattan, Kansas? Maybe he knew he would be coaching in the Mountain West after the Big12 implodes.

2: Illinois
Hire: John Groce (Ohio)
Grade: A-
Illinios has the most basketball tradition of any school looking for a new coach, so one would think they could draw some of the bigger names to interview for the position. Nice solid hire in Groce. John Groce is a sharp, high basketball IQ kinda guy . He comes from the Thad Motta coaching tree and was an assistant for Matta at Xavier in 2004 when they knocked Miss St out of the 2004 NCAA tournament. Many here were screaming his name a couple of weeks ago.

3. Nebraska
Hire: Tim Miles (Colorado St)
Grade: B
It is not a ground shaking hire, but Miles is an under the radar kinda guy who finally got the Rams to the big dance this year. One could argue if they really deserved to get in this year as Colorado State and Iona were both two schools I am still wondering how they really got it? There is still alot to be determined with this hire, but asNebraska is the only BCS school in the state ,Creighton has a much better program at the moment . Time will tell if Miles is really the right move.

4. Kansas State
Hire: Bruce Weber (Illinois)
Grade: C-
Old white dude over 50 who has passed his prime. Coach Southern Illinois for a while before the Fightin Illini but has been in decline the past 4 years ala Stansbury. Has been to a Final Four and two Sweet Sixteens though (one with Southern Illinois / one with Illinois) which is something Stansbury cant touch. I did like the way Kansas State moved quickly with the hire, something our administration is not doing too well right now.

5. Mississippi State
Hire: N/A
Grade: D-
What the hell is going on? After being shot down by Prohm, and Bryce Drew turning the job down, its looks like no one really wants the MSU job. The fanbase has had to deal with a dose of reality that Starkville, MS is not a destination position. Now we are left with eithera third string assistant or a guy who has been fired from his last two gigs. This process has looked from the outside as a disaster, and one can only hope the program can recover to at least mediocrity after this.

That there was a better than 50% chance we could end up with a less successful coach than Stansbury. And of course, I got pounded for saying that by the usual suspects. And while we don't know who that coach is yet or how successful he may ultimately be, I think the difficulty we've had in landing a coachdemonstrates I was right about one thing - not everyone is clamoring to come to Starkville the way some folks thought they would be. However, I'm maintaining a positive attitude about whoever we ultimately hire. Sometimes the next coachingwhiz turns out to be the guy who was the third or fourthchoice for the job that no one thought was a good hire at the time.Time will tell.

and there is a 0% chance of Mike Davis being the next coach, regardless of what Coach34 makes up.
