I’ve been saying this all along but no one wants to listen. Kid is nothin like SS was, he’s a kid he bleeds basketball. He isn’t healthy though and that’s a shame because we never truly got to see what he is capable of. People project their negativity and past experiences on to a 18 year old kid with zero facts and it quite frankly sad.

Man, I hope JQ gets picked in the lottery. Reading that was very difficult. I'm sure his family could use the money.

personally, I would LOVE to see him come back for the tournaments and bring us a title.

Absolutely love it. Been my biggest hope all year long.

that is all. I pray every day to have them all. Kam, Lowe, Q, all of them, I wanted that all year long

God speed on getting healthy and playing again

He also ran his mouth pretty hard complaining about how JQ was being used at Bama. If people think the worst of his kid, he’s one of the main reasons they do.

Very true
He screwed up, even if he is really hurt, the timing was to coincidental with dads comment about how his son was being played. And HE'S NOT PlAYING so looks bad.

JQ could clear all this up by coming out and telling everyone he wants to play, he hasn't done that.
Pope hasn’t helped the perception either, all he's done is leave us in the dark on it and tell us little to nothing.
So given that and the SS situation, you cam see why so many are doubting him.

Seems like JQs dad has some self control issues. Getting so mad that people on the internet are coming up with theories of why his son isn’t playing? Come on now, stay off the internet if you can’t handle the heat. Ignorance at its finest.
LMAO. Half our fanbase calls his son a liar and worse 24/7, he responds yall don't know what you're talking about...and he is the bad guy? So typical

I wasn’t one beating the war drum against him never coming back but if his dad or the staff had maybe communicated a little better before and during this ordeal (not that they should have to) maybe this wouldn’t have been so blown overboard. We are all frustrated he wasn’t playing and maybe if they had reassured he is just as frustrated it would have went a long ways with the BBN.

Jayden Quaintance for Kentucky basketball has missed over a month with swelling in his surgically repaired ACL knee. Is swelling for this amount of time typical for someone coming back to play college basketball 9 months after surgery?

-Yes, experiencing recurring swelling in a surgically repaired ACL knee nine months post-surgery while transitioning back to competitive basketball is not uncommon, although it indicates the knee is not yet fully ready for the high-impact demands of college basketball.

Jayden Quaintance's situation is a typical example of the "start-stop", reactive nature of ACL recovery, where the joint swells as a defense mechanism to being pushed too hard, too soon.
Here is the breakdown of the situation based on his reported recovery timeline:
  • Timeline: Quaintance suffered the ACL tear in February 2025 and had surgery in March 2025. He returned for his Kentucky debut on Dec. 20, 2025, and played four games before being shut down on Jan. 7, 2026, due to knee swelling. This means he returned to play at about the 9-month mark, which is on the aggressive side but within the standard 9-12 month window for returning to sports.
  • The Cause: The swelling, often referred to as "reactive synovitis" (irritation of the knee lining), occurs when an athlete returns to explosive, high-impact movements (running, jumping, posting up) before the graft has fully matured.
  • Is it Typical? While not ideal, it is common for athletes returning from major knee reconstruction to experience swelling that requires a "shut down" period. It suggests the knee is not 100% ready for the daily, intense grind of conference play, even if it feels good in lighter drills.
  • Current Status: As of late February 2026, Quaintance is in a "full shutdown" mode for on-court work following a brief attempt at rehabilitation that resulted in renewed swelling.

While 9 months is a common return-to-sport date, many athletes require closer to 12 months for full confidence and zero-swelling recovery in pivot-heavy sports like basketball

Get this guy the **** away from our program. The dad that is. I don’t think the kid is a bad kid. And he probably doesn’t feel like he has much say in his own career at all. Which he should remedy for his own good.
Lol how dare him take up for his kid

Regardless of the reason. What do you think his dad is gonna say considering the money he made. There are two responses. 1) he’s still hurt and wants to be out there bad or 2) He is shutting it down to protect his draft stock. Do you think there would ever be a scenario where the dad would say #2? Absolutely not. I take this for what it is and doesn’t answer much of anything. The problem isn’t the kid. The problem is Pope and staff paying a kid money that was a huge gamble. They could have found a couple shooters or a back up point guard for that kinda of money, with a player or two that would for sure play. This is Popes fault, not JQ.

That settles it. He’s not sitting out because his dad throws a fit. Of course he’s not sitting out… I expected his dad to say what it really was. But I’ve heard more from his dad than any parent and the kid has played like three minutes this season.

hope he gets drafted or transfers. Screw him and his Dad. “Come see me” 😂😂 we sure this isn’t ja Morants dad…. Gotta stay in the spotlight somehow right?

Nobody here cares to hear his opinion at all. Not just on playing time and usage. But basically on anything. What is his vocation? Does he have one? Or is it his son? His son is sinking like a stone in the draft mostly due to the dad and other handlers. And dad is in panic mode.

He's not very good, and his dad is only making matters worse.

IDK man. If I put myself in his shoes, hearing people talk crap about my son, I may react the same way.
