Since Northern lost twenty five players from last year, I was thinking before the season they'd finish around five hundred. Then they were ranked way up in the state polls, so I figured maybe they received some transfers or something along those lines, because their JVs last year were not all that successful. I"m not quite sure what the pollsters were thinking, but after they thumped Eastern in the opener I figured they'd be OK, but after losing to Ragsdale, although they did beat Southeast after that, that Ragsdale loss may have taken a bit of a punch out from them. Plus number sixteen got a bit banged up in that event They have Northwest, Page, and Grimsley remaining and I'm thanken they win at least one of those events. The Nighthawks also have Western remaining on the schedule.. Who knows...

They were ranked high even after the Ragsdale loss but did rebound to beat a SE team that people are high on. They get after teams but were outmatched Thursday.

SW has some talent. It's just been hard to pull it together. Their strength is obviously their defense. It hadn't given up a point in the first half all season until Thursday. Their front 7 is the right mix of players that have flown under the radar, save 90 and 88. Couple that with a new defensive coordinator that seems to always have the right scheme called up, they have been surprising to most. The key was the offense finding an identity. There are some kinks to work out, but I think they are starting to find their stride, maybe.
