it's pretty surprising what team speed and a good scheme will do....I'm not sure we have either.

At least we got ourselves in the game in the second quarter.

I ain't gonna say we'll beat them, but I'll continue to believe that it's a new game every week.

GT was not exposed. Miami was just taught how to stop the triple option. GT will run all over us, then throw a TD pass with no defenders anywhere close.</p>

Miami is a big, strong, fast team. I think they have a real chance to beat VaTech, Oklahoma, and others and sneak into the BCS. So, GT has nothing to be ashamed of regarding the results of this game.

we could have beaten auburn but our defense could not or would not adapt. they ran the same play on us like 15 times and we could not stop it. the defense must adapt to even have a prayer.

It looks to me like AU could give Miami a pretty good game. Of course, I never think that one game shows everything about a team. Plus the fact that footballs teams change throughout the season, since so many players and ideas are involved. Doesn't Auburn play Virginia Tech this week? I thnk that game will tell us a lot about their team.

My point is to highlight one of the few positives from our game, that we actually came from behind and took a legitimate lead with under five minutes to go in the second half. I still think that if we had gone for and made that fourth and short in the third quarter, the game would not have gotten so ugly. Obviously we have a long way to go. I'm not saying we're equal to GT. I am saying that we played a better game against Auburn than they played against Miami. We competed in our game before we totally sucked; GT just sucked and sucked.

I think the jury is still out on how AU and Miami compare.

"We competed in our game before we totally sucked" .........This sounds like John Kerry saying "I voted for it before I voted against it" can't remember exactly what Kerry was referring to.

We wouldn't have beaten Auburn no matter what the defense did. We don't have the horses. It's really that simple. Was I totally pleased with the coaching? Absolutely not. Did it cost us the game? Again, absolutely not. If you'll leave make believe land for a minute and look at things logically you'll notice that Crooms left us with very little to no talent at most positions on the field. The fact that we held a second quarter lead on them is pretty amazing. We are going to get hammered this year badly due to a combination of lack of talent and a horrible schedule. If we don't win Saturday, and we probably won't, we won't win another game for at least another month. We won't beat LSU, GT, or Houston, and coaching won't have a thing to do with it.

Mullen doesn't have a magic wand to wave over the team, and neither does any other coach. Urban Meyer said it best when he said Mullen would need talent to win. It's almost stupid to say that but it is true. Until we get talent in here and that talent gains experience we are going to lose. Hiring an unqualified coach and then allowing him to hang around for 5 seasons while doing very little quality recruiting is going to have a bad short term effect on our program. Thankfully I believe we made a good hire in Mullen and given time he will win. Thinking we are going to beat anyone decent this year, much less in the first half of the season, is just delusional. Auburn, though down, has way more talent than us. So does GT, LSU, Houston, Bama, Ole Miss, and of course Florida. If someone made me guess I'd guess that we might win one out of the Vandy, UK, and Arkansas games, but I wouldn't bet on Arkansas. Folks, we are staring a 3 win season right in the face. Put down the juice, gain a grip on reality, and watch Mullen build up our program. We might be in worse shape than we were 5 years ago. It's at least arguable.

There was a stretch in that game in which we made several plays in a row, on offense and defense. GT had no similar stretch in the game tonight.

Your John Kerry reference is silly. This ain't politics.

We have the players to stop them but I'm beginning to doubt if we have the correct minds guiding them on the D side of the ball.

"We have the players to stop them "

No we don't.

"I'm beginning to doubt if we have the correct minds guiding them on the D side of the ball."

We had one poor game defensively. I'd give the D staff at least a couple more games before I threw the towel in.

Having Crooms as coach for 5 years has had a terrible effect on the MSU message board. We're basically waiting on Mullen and his staff to fail so we can pronounce doom on the tenure and call for firings.

What I noticed is the U is very fast and I'm not so sure we are close to that speed. When they took bad angles or missed assignments they could make up for it with speed.

That really worked out. Is Tennessee going to expose Florida this weekend so we can beat them too?

We don't have the horses to get it done right now. Recruits.....we have to get good recruits. That's all there is to it.

Do you really think the jury is still out on Miami? I can see saying that about Auburn because they've beaten us and La. Tech, but Miami has beaten Florida State and Georgia Tech, two ranked teams. I know their conference is weak, but still that's two impressive wins. I'd say they're pretty legit, not national title contenders, but a legit top 15-20 team. These next two weeks will show just how good they are, but I don't see how there is any doubt that they have a very viable shot at winning the ACC and going to their BCS bowl. I'll even go so far as to say whoever wins the Va. Tech/Miami game next week will represent the ACC in the BCS.

Oh, as for people saying GT has been exposed. We don't have the D-line, like Miami does, to contain the option. We don't have the speed or the push on the line to slow down the option.

I think our offense will move the ball on them. They don't look very deep on defense and they seem to get tired. Their offense has some power behind it and I have not seen our defense perform well enough to stop them. At this point I would say GT wins but that could change. Our defense could turn around and get better by then. I thnk we will have a better ability to judge after Saturday, if we see improvements.

auburn racked up the rushing yards that they did against us, you actually believe that GT wont do what they did last year? They may be stopped for 50-75 less yds but we will lose that game
