Weak article . Rutgers with the second lowest grade - a B - , they need to grade on a curve

Sorry second lowest . No , I am saying that there needs to be more distribution in the grades.
I would also say that the condition of the program should be considered. Since we had a weak recruiting class last year and not a lot of success, we should have gotten a higher grade for trending upward after a crap year.

Disagree. We should not be evaluated against expectations, be they our own or someone else's. We should be evaluated against the 13 (soon 15) teams we play.

To me, that's what the overall rankings are for, a clean comparison to the other teams in league. The letter grades should be more of a reflection of the team only and that should include past data and results.

At this point, Ohio State doesn't deserve boatloads of talent. They're just falling short with it every year.

Non-legendary reading comprehension. The last part of the final sentence says: I love the direction Schiano and his staff are going. The article also notes this is a top 25 recruiting class.
"There is still some recruiting to be desired here, but I love the direction Schiano and his staff are going."

What does the article's author mean by the first half of the quote?
Rutgers isn't recruiting to Rivals' star ranking like everyone else?
Rutgers isn't recruiting NJ?

From the context he seems to be saying, “Rutgers should be recruiting better, but is headed in the right direction.”

Much of the recruiting focus has moved outside of overrated NJ and that’s a good thing.

RU Husky made a good point.

Schiano attempted to mine NJ as usual, focusing on a young staff of mainly NJ guys to accomplish this goal. Two factors played a significant role in why things turned out to be different: NJ's talent level is different this time, and the young staff was neither strong college coaches nor recruiters. This set the program back. It forced Schiano to hire more adults to right the ship and recruit in new territories to make up the difference. Perhaps Schiano's initial missteps are what the author referred to when he said, "There is still some recruiting to be desired here..."
