Sounds like the whole team would lose their scholarships then. The article also stated they would still do it even if they threaten to take scholarships away. This is a screwed up situation. It would suck to be fans of the team who are planning on this trip. Plus it would suck for their opponent if Minnesota is forced to forfeit. Is there enough time to bring in an alternate opponent, refund tickets, and resell new tickets? I am betting the school will end up giving into their demands or talk some sense into the team.

Terrible situation for Minn. Thankful we are not dealing with something like this.

No offense to the hard working, dedicated young folks out there but this is sooooooo today. if I'm th Holiday Bowl Chairman I issue a deadline of Saturday for Minn to decide if they are coming or the new invite is out and I'd start contacting backups tonight and pronounce them as ready to go tomorrow if Minn is out.

Let's be fair. We don't know the situation with the 10 kids and I'm Not going to speculate on that. However, if the kids think they are innocent, there is nothing more admirable than taking up for a teammate. I'm not saying they should do it, but if they are absolutely certain those kids are innocent, I don't blame them.

The university simply cannot allow the players to hold it hostage. The University needs to document the consequences of a boycott and levy those consequences against the players who are foolish enough to boycott despite the documented consequences.

Natural consequences could reasonably include revoked scholarships.

Agree. This could be more of Obama crap (Read Lloyd Tubman.) and/or fake news like the Muslim woman in NYC. At this point it's all allegations not fact & these players & rest of team are being made to pay a price. Hang em if they're guilty, but prove it first.

We should send out the UL girls and claim about 44 guys on georgia techs team assaulted them. Just happened to be the 2 deep.

Careful, lot of trolls on here, and they might snitch your plan to jurich, who would probably put it into motion right away for their bowl game.

How does it help their friends by boycotting a game? Do they think such threats will be sufficient to manipulate those who are responsible for dealing with the legal issue? "Oh, if we threaten not to play, our friends will get off free?"
Boycotting the game has absolutely no value when it comes to supporting their friends or influencing the outcome of the situation.

Pull the scholarship from every damn player wanting to boycott.
It would be a radical step to take. But obviously, their program is in chaos and their locker room is divided. I don't know much about Tracy Claeys, but everyone can see he doesn't have control of his team. The school probably needs to clean house, including pulling scholarships from all the players causing this trouble. If Coach Claeys isn't up to fixing this, then they might need another guy in charge. But they can't allow scholarship players to boycott any game, bowl or not. What a mess.

Obviously this is not true. We know about this case in Kentucky BECAUSE OF the boycott. If their friends are being treated unfairly, light is a good disinfectant.

Remember Tubman. Remember Duke lacrosse. Allegations shouldn't be enough. Let them play unless they're found guilty.
So if you are accused of something at work (a teacher, police officer, Executive), you are usually suspend with pay pending the results of the investigation. How is this different? Kids are suspended, but still get their scholarship pending the results of the investigation.

Players threatening to boycott the game are as bad as these damn whiny kids shouting "not my president". Get over yourself...you entitled bunch of little %&%&*@

Who the hell do these players think they are ? Do they think the world will quit revolving if they say so. I hope the coach or the A.D. at Minnesota has enough leadership qualities to say anyone that boycotts the game, you can kiss your scholarship goodbye. If you have to play the game with 2nd and 3rd string players. Then do it ! This reminds me on a much, much smaller scale of a situation when Ronald Reagan was president. that time the air traffic controllers in the country decided to go on strike. Reagan gave them 48 hours to get back to work. And the ones that didn't, HE FIRED THEM. That's what a leader does. We need more of that.

Just not sure how any of us can have an opinion about this. We know none of the people involved and have no idea as to the validity of the accusations.
Easy...

They enrolled to play football and go to class. Protesting was not part of the deal.

Whether the suspended players did it or not, that's not the other players' concerns (or business).
