Minutes Distribution

Been posting these as roster changes occur. With Cam gone, here’s my current assessment.

To be clear, this is end of season, must-wins (Davis will obviously get some chances early in the season). Also don’t get too hung up on positions (I know Paul isn’t really a 2).

PG: Fernandes (28), Simpson (12)
SG: Mulcahy (26), Simpson (14)
SF: Griffiths (28), Mag (12)
PF: Mag (20), Hyatt (14), Chol (6)
C: Cliff (32), Woofolk (8)

May very well turn into an 8 man rotation depending on how Chol progresses

Predictions are premature until the roster is set.Fans Thought Spencer was returning and the same assumption is being used with Paul and Cliff.

Hyatt is landing with 24 to 26 minutes, Mag under 16 off an ACL....Mag would or could be less, depending on what's added via the portal at the 4/5. Chol is in the Palmquist role of situational player.

Everything else is accurate.

I like the way you did 1 thru 3 - seems like that's how Pike thinks - and with those four, you can mix and match any combo.

Was there a single team in the Big Ten or in all of High Major basketball that did not have a single player average 30 minutes or more?

Hate to break it to you but even with your mystery person X it’s hard to envision Paul’s minutes dropping from +32 to 24.

Think of it this way - even if your right and Mag is totally good to deliver 28
Mpg post injury, Gavin comes in and knocks it out of the park to earn 28 minutes (clear go to as a frosh over Paul), your right that we secure a mystery person at this stage good enough to earn 20 mpg over playing Paul more - all those things hold true… Well - I’m just not buying Hyatt getting 12 then. If Paul’s minute count is at only 24 he’s going to slide over to the 4 to avoid having to play Hyatt that much except in the handful of games where his shot is just on. Paul, to this point, has been a better choice than Hyatt in pretty much every other scenerio. Hyatt’s minutes have never been at his expense. Don’t see it now either.

To be fair to Hyatt - he’s actually looked better in the pre-season against inferior teams. It’s when we get into BIG season that his shortcomings are highlighted.

And by no means am I implying here that Paul is an above average defender. He’s a “willing” defender who has worked hard to make himself serviceable through the years. Hyatt to this point, has not.
