If we hit that field goal in first quarter and kicked the FG on 4th and 2 before the interception, game would have been 17-13 with 4 minutes to go in the third.
And if we kicked that FG instead of throwing the screen pass people would have complained about not playing to win. I personally liked going for it on 4th down.
I was surprised not to go for a 45 yd FG to bring us to one score.
He had the distance on the first one, just a bit wide left. He has a good leg. If we're down more than 10 go for it on 4th and 2. Otherwise, make it a 7 point game.A 45 and 51 yard field goal are no easy tasks for a college kicker.

agree but he struck the 51 yard attempt well enough to think he had a reasonable chance of making the 45 yard attemptNot gimmie kicks.
Our Kicker is not a guaranteeNot gimmie kicks.
Either three or seven make it a one score game. And the likelihood of making the FG for three was far greater than it was to march down field for seven--even IF you convert the 4th and 2. A first on 4th and 2 produces no points. Our Kicker is not a guarantee

We were moving the ball. Just another dumb post by you.We didnt score for 59 minutes. We werent going to win even if playing the if game
Your post is dummer. See how that works? Nothing dumb about @bac2therac 's post. You're just being a small man because you don't like him.We were moving the ball. Just another dumb post by you.

Giving up is a sign of accepting you're not good enough and having the team
feel the coaching staff gave up on them.
Getting three and making it a one score game is far more likely than getting seven and both produce a one-score game. Playing to win is about playing the odds, not about "I am A Man Man, hear me roar."And thsts why going for it on 4th was the right call
there are two sides and neither is dumb when disagreeing about try for the down or go for the 3Your post is dummer. See how that works? Nothing dumb about @bac2therac 's post. You're just being a small man because you don't like him.
Not completely against it but was surprised by it. Your point that we were moving it may have had Greg thinking this was our one shot at a TDYou play to win. Offense did jack squat for a quarter and a half. We were driving, down 10 on the road 4th and 2 you absolutely go for it. Good play call too, kid just made an All American level play at CB. What can you do...
45 yd FG is no gimme and it was a 4 & 2. The same people calling for the FG would say the opposite if we kicked and missed or even made.On the road u take a 45 yd fg attempt
Yes.Just convert on the 4th and 2 and there’s no issue.
Terrible playcall with the screen
Unless I’m wrong Patel has missed 2 FG’s this season . Yesterday he missed from 51 ( which is his longest made in his frosh year) no disgrace and the 45-46 yard try from the left hash which clanked off the upright. The player has a great leg and can be a weapon down the road. The kicking expert doubting this kid has more than likely never kicked beyond Pop Warner. There are many factors which impacted the kicking game as some others have previously stated on the board. Our Kicker is not a guarantee

We're not a team with a good screen game. Even when we try a bubble screen or tunnel screen when it isn't 4th & 2 it is an adventure. Why on God's green earth would the playcall there ever be for a screen? "They'll never see it coming?". That play should be an automatic 3 yard gainer that the team practices so much they hate it.Just convert on the 4th and 2 and there’s no issue.

How many points does the first down get you?People saying go for a fg are seemingly forgetting after the 14 minute mark of the 1st quarter the offense was a failure and Michigan after being stopped on ther initial drive was converting evey time
