I'm not sure who set it up but someone posted recently that Trump speaks literally and those who understand him get what he means figuratively.

Those who don't understand him hear him figuratively but don't get him literally.

Like the time you said you were an expert in the shale gas industry but you didnt even understand the basic operations of the industry?

Yeah, I made you look like a complete fool, which wasn't very hard to do. You said they weren't even extracting gas from shale drilling and in about two minutes I cited a source, which you never do by the way, showing the exact amount by year that had been extracted from shale drilling in Ohio.

or how you said there was no cracker plants set up yet.

or how you said there were no gas lines to transport the gas.

Good times!

It explains his swing state grab.

Maybe. I agree with you she was a terrible candidate (for true Leftists Sanders was better) but no one actually believed Trump was going to beat her until he did.

Then of course it was because of the Russians, but if that's true even they thought she was going to win without their help for Trump right?

You can't apply the same level of logic, reasoning, understanding to what Trump says like you can a normal politician. Politicians in general parse their words very heavily, average people, non-politicians, in normal conversation, don't.

That's why you can't take what he says literally or think it means to him what it means to you.

There's a simple joke in my industry. A Contractor is hired by client to build a new office building that the client is in a hurry to get into. The client asks, "When can you get started?" The contractor answers, "Monday". Monday rolls around and the client arrives at the job site to find that the contractor hasn't showed up. He frantically calls the contractor and says, "Look, I'm in a big hurry with this project, we need to get in and operating as soon as possible, and you said you'd start Monday but you're not here. What's going on?" The contractor simply answers, "I said Monday.... I didn't say which Monday."

I had a guy I worked with that used to say something similar. He was close to retirement age and when asked would always say he was retiring on Monday.

OK, backing up.

He did campaign on a complete Muslim ban, and repeated it several times. He spoke of extra surveillance at US Moques, he even spoke of a Muslim "registry".

How can a reasonable person not conclude that he feels that Muslims are a threat to our security?

But now they get gassed and suddenly they are innocent people and we must retaliate. They've been the same people all along ... the very ones that so many have said we can't let in because they are a threat.

What muslim ban? You keep asking where the lie is and then repeating the lie.

"I'm calling for a shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what's going on"

I said he campaigned on that, and it's out there all over the place, and you call me a liar for saying that he said it.

What is funny is that you claim to be an expert and then you thought you set me straight. You made yourself look like a fool because you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

You have no clue about anything you ever talk about. Do you honestly think just because you say something people actually believe it? The sad part is, you actually believe it.

I wouldnt take your word about anything regarding thr industry because time and time again you have proven you dont know what you are talking about. The funny thing is that you called yourself an expert. You think deed research sparked the economy. You are a very special sort of stupid Mr. Blart.

Actually I recognize he's a con-man so I don't believe anything he says, literally or otherwise. He does speak exactly like that, which leads me to believe that he's incapable of articulating a reasoned thought. If he's capable of reasoned thought at all.

A lot of his followers do listen to him literally and adopt his thoughts literally. "kick them out" "Lock her up" etc.

I'm going to spend the next 3-4 years dizzy from shaking my head so much at the lunacy.

It isn't a lie Dave ... I've stated repeatedly that he campaigned on a muslim ban, and provided a clip of him repeating and justifying his position on why one is needed. I know you're capable of reasonable thought, but you have to accept the evidence in front of you.

I never said he enacted a complete muslim ban ... and in fact my original post in which you immediately started calling me a liar was talking specifically about his attitude leading up to his election in which he articulated multiple times stopping muslims from entering our country. Again, I provided a clip of him repeating that thought.

The only lie here is the one you keep telling yourself.

This is easy to prove or disprove. If Trump has indeed instituted a "ban" on all Muslims coming into this country, all one has to do is check to see if any have been or curently are being admitted who call themselves "Muslim". If yes, they are being banned, then you're correct. If no, there is no ban, then you are incorrect.

Simple really.

These statistics have not been updated for 2017, but all of the relevant data can be found here:
https://www.dhs.gov/immigration-statistics/yearbook/2015

And this is the actual policy: (which says nothing about a "ban" on all Muslims)

And therein lies the problem stating his past statements matter. If this EO would be legal for another president at another time, it should be legal for Trump, no matter what he said in the past.

Would it have been? The way it was written and enacted?

I know Obama had a similar one, but it was in response to a specific weakness identified by the actions of a couple of individuals. (I don't know how Bowling Green recovered so quickly from the massacre, kudos to them for their resiliency)

It's conjecture to say whether or not another president would have gotten the same one through, maybe you're right.

The judges all referenced his past statements. Those are irrelevant to the actual EO and situation.

So you too are hung up on his campaign. Funny that you keep talking all his supporters who adopt his words. There was never going to be a muslim ban. He even clarified that during the campaign not that the media bothered cover it fairly. Everytime you or anyone talks about a muslim ban it is a lie. Do yourself a favor and remember that.
