It was'nt pretty, in fact, it was kinda ugly. Neither team, it seemed, was gonna be able to make enough plays to win. Both teams struggled on offense. Lake Norman led 2-0 early on but Mooresville scored twice in the second quarter to take a 13-2 lead into halftime. Lake Norman turned the ball over at least 3 times in the third but Mooresville could not take advantage. Lake Norman scored but missed a 2 pt conversion to cut the lead to 13-8 in the fourth. Mooresville added a FG to make it 16-8 with 3:47 left in the game. Lake Norman stunned the Blue Devils with a 4 play touchdown drive and the 2 point conversion to tie the game with 3:07 remaining. Mooresville was stopped on 3rd and 6 deep in their own territory but an unsportsmanlike penalty was assessed on Lake Norman for taunting. Mooresville then advanced on a long pass play. A 15 yd face mask penalty was called on Lake Norman a couple plays later. But Mooresville was stalled on 3rd and 5 on the Lake Norman 23 with 20+ seconds to go. That's when they connected on a strike in the end zone to seal the win. Mooresville hosts N Iredell next Friday to end the regular season.

Am i the only one that notices our play calling gets ultra conservative in big games? The pass was there all night I thought... And maybe im blind but pretty sure the middle of the field was wide open all night. I dont know why we insist on running the ball 50 (not really 50) times a game when it's obvious its not gonna work, teams will ALWAY run 8 & 9 man fronts on us until we get out of this stupid mindset.
I thought the defense played well. Probably the best since dukes has been out. Created a ton of turnovers tonight- and quite honestly is the reason we won this game imo. Really impressed with #38. Think that was his first varsity start.

From this point forward, I don't think the play calling will really matter. Next week Mooresville plays 3-7 North Iredell. Then it will have their playoff game. So, there's not much of the season left. Just sit back and enjoy the next couple of games.
If Mooresville would just throw the ball tbeyd be fine. They've certainly shown the capabilities to do it. In big 4A id like our chances vs anyone in the Charlotte area not nameds Butler or Mallard Creek.
