Cant give up two defensive touchdowns. Went toe to toe with them so gonna have to take this moral victory to be able to sleep tonight. And ******* work on pass blocking. Take whatever points A&M is laying g next week. Good effort but damn.
It's more than that. It's a signal that we're for sure moving in the right direction and can compete with quality SEC teams again for the first time since we lost Leach.
Next week is going to be a huge letdown game for this team.

Lebby had no business having his team in this game before kickoff. And literally had no reason to lose it right now. What a god damned Mississippi state thing to have happened.
We'll see - will be tough to bounce back from this one, let alone go on the road to College Station. It will be a test of the mental toughness for our guys.
They shocked me. I didnt think State was capable of being competitive. I am very happy to be wrong. .... and yet I'm crushed again by a State team letting victory slip away. Damn it.
Its nuts to go from: 1) they will get beat by +20, to 2) what, they are competing, to 3) wait, they could actually win, to 4) damn it, they crushed my hopes ... again.
Games haven't stung In a while. It stings because we actually had a shot at beating another really good team. Last few years we didn't have a chance. However, damn we had that and defense couldn't get a stop and then three ducks to end our offense in regulation with plenty of time. All we needed was about 30 yards to get in range to win
Going to be bad. We’ve been living on emotion. Reality sets in next week. Then we have a week off to get ready for the real test of the season - at Florida. Got to bring a good effort this game.
Any idiot could see we’d play well against ASU and UT.
This ain’t a morale victory. A morale victory is when you lose but you’re satisfied because you did your best. I think this team is pissed because they let this one get away.

I’d argue that it’s since we lost Mullen, but your point is valid.
Leach's last team was a Top 15 level group. One of the better teams in MSU history.
I'm not sure why you'd think we have to go back to Mullen to find teams that completed well with quality opponents.
Because the last time we could consistently compete with quality opponents was under Mullen.

Mullen’s offense was a great balance that consistently had us competing and in the Top 25 (have you forgotten 2014 & 2015 and the consecutive bowl streak he built?)
Sure, we won some games with Leach, but all told, his win percentage at State was 0.528
Great guy, great coach, but he wasn’t a world beater at State like he was elsewhere.

Again, Leach was a great man and a great coach, but Mullen was the last to consistently compete against quality opponents at State.
