I can go back to Ebbets field days when a beer was 35 cents, and a hot dog was 25 cents. The beer was a full can that was poured into a paper cup by the beer guy, who worked in the stands.

Stupid... list assembler is shocked that Rutgers charges $11 but makes accommodations for UCLA charging $12 because Los Angelinos are used to high prices... UCLA plays in Pasadena.

NJ cost of living is 15% higher or more.

You'd think whatever writer decided to single out Rutgers would search, just a little bit, to for an explanation before hitting SEND.. especially once he/she/they decided that cost-of-living had some effect on UCLA's pricing.

If anyone cares to tell him/her/they.. the email is [email protected] and he/she/they is from SW Florida somewhere.

BTW.. Rutgers grossed $1.6M in alcohol sales at football and basketball games last year... NJ.com link I have to say, just one lawsuit could turn whatever profit that represents into a huge loss... you know our legal eagles just love to settle quickly, pay em what they ask and more! but, hmmmm... does that include sales in the "Boardwalk" area pregame?

For years a lot of folks complained they couldn't drink (legally) in the stadium. Anyone who thought you wouldn't have to pay thru the nose if approved wasn't thinking straight. The only reason to do it was to make as much $ as possible so drink up, think about it as you're helping good ol RU lol.

How's your first summer going down there?
Hotter than I expected and my job is mostly outdoors , but it’s really slow paced and chill down here

I will be up in Jerz prob for Labor Day weekend for Belmar and possibly that RU game so count on at least 3 cans being sold that game

i was wondering about the heat. With the water temp in the gulf I'd think being close to the water wouldn't help too much.

Is the Tulane beer a 24 oz can for $3 or something else? What kind of beer and size of can?

Um, $11 is not that much for that HUGE can!
This is a very poorly written article. Makes no mention of what beer they are basing the pricing on or the size of the can/pour. I'll have to assume they picked a standard beer to compare along with equal pour sizes across all stadiums since the idiot making the comparisons didn't say. I'll go with Bud or Coors type draft pour at 12 ounces per $11. A 30 pack of Bud Light is about $26 or 87 cents a can...or over a 1,200% markup. If they are draft pours that markup will be even higher. $11 ain't no deal unless you are comparing to the absurd prices a Met Life or Yankee Stadium.

That’s the thing
They give you a larger can so it is tough to figure how bad you are getting ripped off
If it was a standard beer can, obvious

That said, a couple or three of the super sized ones could be necessary for some of our games, against Ohio state. eg

Why would you assume they are comparing equal sizes across? The "reporter" most likely asked for the price of beer at each stadium without including details like size or kind of beer.

I’ve never purchased beer by the can from a liquor store but this is good to know just in case I am ever down on my luck.
I buy those 16oz Bud aluminum bottles at the convenience store ( usually Thornton’s) for 2/$3.50. Just bought four last night after my softball triple header. Kill two on the way home

Covid1984 drinks wine coolers so he don’t care.

Actually it’s Sutter Home White Zinfandel ;)

Kidding but it was quite popular for two years in the 1980s.

I’m rather pedestrian with my wine. I go by brand and grape. No idea what year is good.

I’m a Rombauer Chardonnay guy. Like $50 a bottle at Spring Lake Bottle Shop. But it goes great with pizza.

If the reporter did not use comparable size/brewer/style, then he is even more of an idiot than his journalistic efforts already suggest. Either I assume comparable purchases or I assume he is a dolt who does not know how to conduct a proper study.

All due respect, this article might as well have been written by a bot/AI but there are blatant typos in this article. So I assume it was written offshore. It’s an article about nothing that no one will read.

Are you suggesting Pasadena isn't "LA"?

No I am suggesting that the liister never even considered cost of living for Rutgers beer prices but did so for UCLA.

But Pasadena is in LA County.. but it is a separate city that's about 10 miles away. Rutgers stadium in Piscataway is about 11 miles, as the crow flies, from the NYC border (before you guffaw.. Staten Island is NYC, right?)

That same can runs around $2.25 with tax at your local liquor store

RU should be priced lower since many home games are lopsided losses.
I've been to bars where they get $5+ for a 12oz bottle of coors lt.. so $11 for 20oz can at a D1 football stadium isnt that high... Is it overpriced? Yes.... But not by that much considering the venue..
